Ok a mate of mine works with carbon fibre and he's making a custom gauge mount for his starlet, so hes gonna see about doing one for my sport at the same time, question is where would be the best place to put it?

I was thinking where the ashtray is infront of the gear stick, any other suggestions?

Something like this is what i mean...

I agree craig, either top centre air vents on the dash like in your pic or down near the ashtray, near the ashtray is a little more subtle, like in the Audis. Nice set of VDO gauges in there. Needs to look original though otherwise it can look a bit lax power IMO

Used to be a spunk-worthy mod in the MK2 Golf, Votex centre console with the VDO gauges in. 8)

Yea the carbon fibre is a bit of a concern with that as im not sure if carbon will look.."chav", i just want bits that are one off if you get me.

Craig i don't mate the cars at home and i'm at uni. I just mocked it up with paper, cut, cut got it right then used 5mm mdf, strong enough, but at the same time easy to work with and it fitted a treat! If you still haven't got round to doing it when i next visit home i can get you the measurments not a problem.

Swirly yours look really good there, especially with the 3 gauges, i feel inferior with only 2 :(

I've been thinking about doing this for ages, and the only thing that has stopped me, was I wasn't sure how to wire up the gauges from that center consol to thru the fire wall... I've never really fiddled around there u know. ??

Mine is also a 3 gauge setup... Got all my measurements and did a Isometric drawing of it... just for future reference :D
