Diff Overhaul

I've got a 2.93 LSD ready to be fitted to my project but I want it looking a lot better. It's currently rusty brown with bits flaking off.

What's the best way to get it looking better, nice and shiny?

Tried a search but nothing really came up.

You'd be looking at wire-brush, sand, paint for a nice new finish. Be bloody careful masking it up though! I'd pass if it was me...

If you sand blast it might aswell get it powder coated at the same time.

Will sand-blasting it be ok? Don't want to damage anything.

How much would powder coating it cost?

Sandblasting would do a good job. But if it's not stripped down and washed out. then sand will get inside somewhere and then cause damage.

I gave mine a damm good wirebrushing and a couple of coats of Hammerite. Looks fine.

Imy, I'm going to use some alismart acid (very small amount) mask off a few bits I don't want it to touch and plenty of wire brush action.

I'm doing the same on the M50 block.

Both will then get a coat of enamel/paint

I wouldn't risk sand blasting it myself, that stuff gets everywhere mate....

Sand-blasting's a no go then, don't want to damage this as it's a pretty rare ratio.

I'll go with wirebrushing.

an overhaul id consider cosmetic and a general minor repairs, a rebuild would be more mechanical.
