anyone know if this is a big job? been advised to change it on my E53 X5. What are the benefits of doing this please?

Plus, is it normal that when you plant your foot, it smokes like crazy? i thought you should get a puff of black smoke then it clears up? but mine seems to chuck smoke out constantly on full throttle ?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated :D

Check your turbo hoses - even a small split in one of the pipes will be amplified massively when it comes on boost causing it to overfuel and chuck out the black smoke when under load.

Its very unlikely your particule filter is causing this problem has the oil system breather filter been changed recently I have seen these block and cause massive amounts of smoke on the e46s.

Indeed, I heard about this in the dealers a few weeks ago. I had to sit down and I wasn't buying one 8O

I heard that most E60's when they reach 60k - correct me if I'm wrong, need to be done.

Haven't seen them give that much trouble on the e60s look after quite a few with well over 100k on them, think its down to them getting plenty of long distance driving there is a couple of companies here that will write the dpfs out of the ecu allowing it to be bypassed
