I used to smoke about in a zinnobar E23 735i, the fuel bill was shocking
it cost me almost a grand for an aftermarket exhaust and that was nearly 10 years ago !

I doubt you'd find a much better E23 than that. I was trying to convince Rav to buy it when he got the Audi!

When I think of some I threw away.

The 1983 NEC motor show 728iSE, light metallic green with olive green leather, built 1983 but registered August 1984. The last one I had was a 1982 Y plate 732i in light metallic blue (Sapphireblau) with really basic spec - steels with chrome rings, wind up windows. It was collected from the first owner in Munich and driven to the UK. It was such a straight car when I had it in 2003 but the torque converter seal blew and I just weighed it in. Mind you, it'd be worth f*ck all now even if I'd kept it.

My first E23 was a 1977 R reg 728 4 speed manual (carb), in Cypress green, Not bad when you're only 19 (this was 1987....)

Looks great and is of course cool as the other side of the pillow.

Are the alloys original BMW cross spokes? They just don't look quite right to me...

Oh yes. It was a part ex at the local dodgy used car dealership in Thatcham next to where my Dad started his first business in 1986. It had been really demolished down one side, badly repaired and the filler was an inch thick in places - the fuel filler flap was actually recessed. 8O I polished it up so well that you could get seasick looking down the side of it. She was properly rippled.
It was an R plater with about 200'000 miles, no MOT*,shagged drivers seat...................but what a cool chariot and E23's were still just about current. I had to sell it because it did about 16 mpg and I just couldn't afford to run it.

* Didn't matter then. You just left the old MOT overnight in brake fluid to wash out the ink, rinse it under the hot tap, dry it, iron it and write it out again. Those were indeed the days. :D

Apparently you could do the same to a tax disc you found in a scrapyard with a month or so left to run.

LOOKS NICE. I am too young to remember Miami Vice but these look nice.

Would not mind the motor.

I think it has a STUNNING HISTORY being 2-owner car. The history and photographs of the car are STUNNING.

For a £1000 it is fairly cheap.

Wonder how much more work it needs doing e.g. servicing, brakes, suspension, rust etc?

Anyone know the fuel consumption MPG for this car? Considering my BMW E30 325i Sport does 12 - 20mpg i wonder what the fuel bills on this would be. A GREAT car for a COLLECTOR though.

These things are cool, this era is the true definition of the term retro. wasn't the immaculate green one at gaydon? if not there was one almost identical there i'm sure of it!

Blimey, an old 3 speed auto. I had one, NEG633W in Chestnut red with tan velours and the steel wheels with the stainless trim rings. It was absolutely savage in fuel (20 mpg tops) but went quite well. I bought it in 1997 for £150. It was as rough as a bears arse with knackered door bottoms so it was given the P40 and 'undersealed up to the doorhandles' treatment.
Yours looks like Cypress green...?

Not sure what the colour is yet, as I said I have only had it 10 days not even had time for a good look through the history file which is very thick :)

I paid £170 for this on but i am only expecting 20ish mpg maybe 25 on a run but my other half has the family car and I have my work van so will not do massive milage in it.
