Right my head is propper swimming about all over the place at the moment. Im looking at what speakers to get for my cab, but having an info overload.
Im looking to put two subs in the boot. After looking at the type of music I listen to, I have been recomended to have two 12" subs, stood upright so they can be put under the hood compartment to still leave space. Seen a few pictures and it will leave enough room for anything else I need in the boot.
Looking to get the two 12" Alpine Type R subs, what amp would you recomended to power these?
Ive been looking at some components for the front kickwell and for the rear door cards, and looked at the Vibe Black Air 5 V2's, anyone had any experience with these? If I was to put these in the front and back, will that give me sufficient amount of sound upfront? What components would others recomend to use up front and powered off what amp?
And I know some people make a custom door build etc, but because I have a full custom leather interior, I dont fancy cutting up the door cards, especially when I wont be able to get the leather to match. So I was thinking for a bit more sound, could I maybe do something under the front seats?
Any help is much appreciated!

i also have custom door cards, but it didnt stop me from cutting my way into 6.5'' components
i dont know what others think but i dont think 5'' components will give enough drive unless ofc you go for the high ££'s competition jobbies. remembering that bass kills off treable too. i would go for a 6.5'' component and put em in the lower/lock side of the door, there is enough space without needing to cut any metal there. i wouldnt worry about needing leather to match coz once you have a speaker in there it wont be comming out again ^^ the setup id go for is 5'' in the kickpanel and rear cards with the 6.5;; in the doors, 2x 12's in the rear and you will be kickin

Im really against cutting in to them at the moment though lol. Is there any way I can maybe get a set of 6.5" to fit the front kick well?

passenger side will be easy enough, its the driver side which will give a problem. with the under seat option, you would have to have the seat at its highest p[osition at all times and you will have flow issues too, i wouldnt go for that myself. you dont have many options tbh, maybe you could use a spacer against the kickwell so you can use a 6.5 in there, you would probly need a good 1'' spacer though, and the speaker would be rely close to the accel pedal

or even if you are good with a saw and mdf.. you could maybe make a slanted box which could sit at the end of the seat rail, right below the front of the seat? as a last resort ofc over cutting door cards

I plan on this setup for my cab as i want something thats loud and clear
A set of comps with tweeters in bmw tweeter pods in the front
a set of comps in the rear
have the comps running from a 2 channel amp
then have a mono or bridged amp with 2x 8" subs
thats 10 speakers

running two pairs of components off a two channel amp requires careful choices. Look at impedance values fella.

i understand OHM and RMS and thats it
are you basically saying a 4 channel would be better suited because of some technical shizzle

you will need full control of setting for each set of comps, if you are useing an amp to power 2 diferent sets of comps on the same amp settings you may be overpowering 1 set and underpowering another.. unless all the comps are of the same make/value...

oh i got you, i was going to get 2 sets the same anyway either that or just a pair for 13cm speakers for the rear. i would get both the rears and front with the same RMS as the amp anywaye30maddog wrote:you will need full control of setting for each set of comps, if you are useing an amp to power 2 diferent sets of comps on the same amp settings you may be overpowering 1 set and underpowering another.. unless all the comps are of the same make/value...

if you want smooth bass and pure sound quality go for jl audio, if you want insane sub with a crazy bass note go for ground zero, ive heard many others kenwood, jbl e.t.c previously had an splx sub, the jl w7 is 50x better than any sub ive heard! go to an audio shop and ask for a demo or something,
in the front ive got ground zero (budget ) speakers no point in getting anything expensive as wont make muc of difference, rear ive got 6x9 ground zero hydrogens in a custom box behind headrest,
as for the speaker under the front seats thats actually a pretty good idea to get a bit more sound in... you can make it happen if you want to

All electricity is is electrons being pushed along a cable so an amplifier 'pushing' electrons to a speaker comes up against a resistance, measured in ohms. So if two speakers are connected to one set of outputs the amp has to work twice as hard for the same output. Hence the amp will get hotter and if the components are not up for the job (and most are not no matter what make) its meltdown time.
Better off with a 4 channel amp although space then becomes a problem. Maybe two small 2 ch amps under either seat.
As for which speakers up front, this becomes a personal choice as I would still fork out a ton for comps up front, which in some eyes is silly and a waste. The location and space for the fronts is poor sound wise, well it is a car not the bbc radio theatre but poor speakers in a poor location are well poor but good speakers in a poor location will sound better and with a cheekie EQ tucked out of the way can pay SOME dividends.
JAY stick with Rockfords and you'll never go wrong.

nah 1 15" see how well E30s are built then.
ftw http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/em ... p-785.html
that beat will push 35Hz and more than an E30 can handle.
Then you start messing about with resonant frequencies, which is nice.
a little nod to Mark Williams for the unenlightened

My twin 12" has been built to go down to 5HZ
, but you'll never ever hear that.
37hz is where it's at if the female of the species is sitting in the car

I'm always suspicious of any speaker or brand who don't publish their specs alongside the speaker. Whats more important how it looks or how it sounds........
Then again in this day and age don't answer that.
