Are they a nightmare to live with?
Running costs and fuel economy massive?

I have liked them for ages. I may have the chance of a well maintained, full service low ish (mostly motorway) miles one. Not stupid money.
What do we think?

Running costs and fuel consumption are as you would expect for a 1900kg super saloon with a 400bhp V8 under the bonnet..

I hope hoping for mpg figures and maybe stuff that goes wrong with them. Like vanos issues? etc?

I am guessing they arnt great on fuel and parts carry the M tax. Thanks though Dan. winkeye

A mate of mine had one and took one on a track day and between the fuel of getting there, getting home, used on track along with four brand new tyres which ended up shagged, it cost him a grand for the day... That was without any breakdown or crash...
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

Unless its cheap enough to punt on at a profit I would steer well clear and start looking for compacts :)

Get one, they're mega! If you're test driving one get up to motorway speed to make sure it's smooth.

you want to be spending your cash on Jhonno's S50 for the compact project, not getting a money pit of an E39 :D

Why would I buy a S50 conversion for an E30 though for a compact mate?

If I wanted it in an E30 it would have been up north by now.

I will be buying a rotten M3 when the time is right. :D

I am trying to leave this fooker alone but it's powers are strong. :D

I have a while to think about it.
I am hopefully going to be able to resist it's charms.

I have always liked them and this one tempts me. It's cheap but still strong for me ATM.

@ tash you can't pay half if you want. It would have to live up north though dude. winkeye

North is looking more appealing with all the stroppy, moaning antics down south.

Cheap rent as well.

Just how much would a 3 bed detached with at least double garage winkeye
