Have you managed to discover what caused the brake failure in the first place? Quite worrying!

all the signs are still pointing to a master cylinder issue, although I haven't had time to look at it yet as I am currently moving house, getting my other E30 on the road and trying to solider on with my degree work.anothere21323i wrote:Have you managed to discover what caused the brake failure in the first place? There's plenty of tourings in Europe though, but on the other side of the coin, the number of lovely old american muscle cars that get scrapped over your side of the water makes me wince in a similar wayFullyInvolved wrote:Crushing the touring is heartbreaking as a US cit. but the saga was fun, Gratz on the M3

Ah. I wonder if it was equipment failure or a design/fabrication/engineering fault? I'm sure all the other guys with M50/52 or S50 conversions may be sweating a bit....billgatese30 wrote:all the signs are still pointing to a master cylinder issue, although I haven't had time to look at it yet as I am currently moving house, getting my other E30 on the road and trying to solider on with my degree work.anothere21323i wrote:Have you managed to discover what caused the brake failure in the first place? Snow, work, Uni work and moving house has pretty much put pay on any work on the car since the last update. I've just got back from a week in the USA today with work, I've now been awake 26 hours and can't seem to drop off for a quick hour long nap which I know I need! If I stay awake until tonight before I go to bed (say 10pm) then I'll have been up 34 hours
but if i go to bed too early I'll get up too early tomorrow

Not yet Malc, pretty much for the same reasons as per the last update too. Long shifts, Uni work and things to do to the house have held me up (along with the bad weather) however, I have some time off over easter which means that hopefully I'll get something done and even if not, it should get rid of quite a few non e30 related jobs from the list which is holding me up from spending time on it. But as they say, good things come to those who wait!

As of yesterday, the car is back on my drive ready to be stripped down in the coming weeks. However the pissing rain today has put a halt on things

That´s a hell of a entertaining story!!!
I was astonished to see how well the e30 handled the slam! The kitty litter and tires must have helped! Glad your allright!
This kind of reminds me of those horror movies when the devils souls goes into another body in order for it to remain alive! Muahahahahah!
Long live those red e30 devils!!!
(But for your health i hope that no more accidents happen! yummy red m3...)

As a small update though I have been making a few purchases recently for the car. The main notable one being some new "bits" for the engine bay

It should however turn this thread from a tale of epic fail, to one of epic win though
It was quite a big bit as I remember.billgatese30 wrote:As a small update though I have been making a few purchases recently for the car. The main notable one being some new "bits" for the engine bay
