I need to replace the broken bowden cable in my 318is passaenger seat, but can't work out how to remove the seat back. I've removed the plastic cover over the bottom hinge/gas strut (by the seatbelt buckle), the two screws through the bottom of the seat back, and the handles/surrounds on the levers on the sides of the seat back, but the levers still stop the back coming off. What am I doing wrong?!

The inner lever has a small screw holding it in place - take this out, remove handle, Bob's yer dad's brother.

I had this problem myself, scratched my head for ages...

Do you mean the plastic panel on the back of the seat upright or the whole back. The back panel is secured by just two self tappers at each bottom corner pointing upwards. You have to romove the side tilt forward handle(s) and their plastic trim if its a two door. If it's the driver's side with two handles you have to push them down so they are less protruding and force the back panel round them a side at a time.

Thanks Johnono, learnt something. Done this job many times and never noticed that screw, but the back never ripped, thankfully. :thumb:
