My touring was free, ran it for 3 years as a first car (on and off), bought a ratty iS, dropped the M42 into my touring somewhere along the line. Then had it killed. :( I want another E30, badly...

The 20V turbo varieties were known to cost about £1200 for belt change as in the early days it involved the whole donk needing removing. I think there were subsequently ways discovered to get around needing to remove the lump which then brought down the price substantially.

I believe it still runs into the £400+ region though.

I have thought about these turds a few times
Oops missed this post :)
Give it a go lee, they're pretty Sharp for a fwd. Galvanized too! There's also free software from the forum you can use with a standard obd/usb cable to read faults/get realtime data. 280hp is only a few hundred quid away from stock and they weigh a LOT less than a soararse ;)
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap :)

ive always liked e30's since i was 10 years old, im 34 now and only passed my test last year, the only reason i passed was that i brought an e30 325 before hand, which gave me the motivation to drive it and pass my test 1st time, this is my 1st car, i will only ever buy e30's, oh i wouldnt mind an e28 i like those just as much, i love my car more than myself

The exhaust tone of a 325i got me.

Was working at a small firm around 1995 and every morning the boss would back up to the roller doors and park, Every day I enjoyed that rumble.

3 years later he decided to sell the firm and move abroad,a rich man came and bought the firm,I mean while set about buying the car :D Deal done,I was then the proud owner of aformentioned facelift E reg 325i,with high comp motor no less

Boy did I have some fun in that car,it was certainly faster than my current Touring.

I kept it for about 4 years or so.

Had a 318i for a short while while I was rather skint, then bought the Touring, that was nearly 9 years ago.

Have now personally covered a little under 110,000 miles in my Touring, and I still never get bored of the sound, the drive etc

I had the pleasure of learning to drive in my dads 320i chromer. stalled it on a junction with a slight artic issue closing in - cranked her over, sidestepped the clutch & snaked off up the road.

years later, a friend had a 325 chromer & that was my mind made up
