x-works. Looking good now (although nothing in your write up is bad). So, whens that nice rebuilt gearbox getting fitted to a hopefully passionately rebuilt engine? I cant wait to see this finished now your approaching it...

Uni is killing the project.
just spent most of the day rivetted to this truely amazing' labour of love'. I bow in honour of your knowledge and patience!
The content will be invalueable when i attempt to deal with a minor rust patch in the 'A' pillar of my M3. Hoping to make a start this winter.

this needs to be put into a new thread with no comments in between so you can follow easyer
insane!
insane!

Hmm I also did, this but unfortunately although the dye is awesome on the actual carpet it doesn't last very long on the vinyl parts. I've now got a decent amount of grey peeking through under my right heel. I guess if you're getting some mats it's not a problem but otherwise don't expect it to be permanent.x-works wrote:
Wasn't sure how the vinyl/plastic bits of the carpet were going to take
to the dye but as it turned out they dyed perfectly black too........
btw I don't know if any one has mentioned this yet but this is probably the most enjoyable, informative and just plain awesome thread on this forum

Hopefully, he's off rebuilding the engine as we speak!!m_jermyn wrote:Any updates on this build?

I love this thread, especially since my E28 shares a few common parts with the E30 M3 so I can learn lots!
Apologies for the delay in updates, the project slowed down there for a while,
i was working at too fast a pace and was in danger of burning out.
Seriously though, the parts gathering for this engine is costing a small fortune
and since myself and Mastercard aren't on speaking terms any more I've had to
divert more time to earning cash rather than spending it.
However, there's enough stuff here now to crack on with the first phase of the
engine build and all things going according to plan, I should have some dribble
up within the next fortnight.......

Been a while since I checked in here. I've had to also concentrate on earning cash rather than spending it!
I find the whole thread outstanding in quality of workmanship and the most thorough write-up. Probably just a great big understatement but it leaves me gobsmacked everytime I look at it!
I'm so glad I didn't miss the engine bit. Keep it up!!

This is a great post and so infromative - can we post the thread on the M3 SIG? I know its mainly a US based SIG but all information shared on these fantastic cars will help us all in the end. Well done you - I wish I was blessed with the skills to do this kind if work. Credit to you!!

Hi Brian, i've not read the whole thing (but will tonight) you may remember me, I'm steve the bloke who sold you the car, I bought a 964rs just after and have just sold that.
I still have M cars, an e36 and e46, i do miss the e30 though, I'd had 13 before the black one I sold you and that was my last one, I still have it's italian number plates and few bits in the garage if your interested?
Steve.

Howya Steve, good to hear from you. Done a few small bits
and pieces since I brought her home.
Sent you a pm.
For all our regular viewers, apologies again for the delay on updates.
Engine build is turning out to be a bit of a ball breaker. Awaiting the
cylinder head to return from machining at the moment before we
can sign off on the final piston specs, which will then take another 4 weeks
from order date to arrive.
I tried searching e-bay for magic wands, but no joy.
Still taking pic's as we go along so there should be a ferocious
outburst of bullshit when the engine build finally arrives.
