Hi There Guys,
i wash and polish my car at least once a week (SOMETIMES MORE!!)with auto glym srp,and i have given it 3 coats of carnubua wax in the last 5 weeks...

My problem is that in some places the paint is looking a bit thin!!-a friend has said it could with a "blow over" what does this mean and how much would it cost to do the whole car???

Doubt you would have thinned the paint yourself just using srp and a cloth. If you were machine polishing that often then deffo. However you should only need to wax your car properly once every few months, I only wax mine every 4 months or so - it really should last that long with proper cleaning routine. You want to be rinsing and washing with 2 bucket method once a week with a very mild detergent, megs gold class or something is good. You dont need to wax all the time, its pointless. Each time you apply a new layer of wax you need to strip of the old stuff with something like dodo juice lime prime, then clay, detail, wash, wax with good wax.

Wouldnt bother getting the panel sprayed unless its ugly, just be careful and dont machine polish it. Or get a whole respray :)

As Reflexx has said, stop polishing it! The problem product here is Autoglym SRP which has very light abrasives in it.

Your car will need no more than a clay twice a year and waxing every 3-4 months. The clay will remove any bonded contaminents etc. and the wax protects the paintwork & brightwork.

I remember my old mans Black Capri 2.8i Special which was SRP'd every couple of weeks, the paint was slowly worn away on the roof rain gutters revealing the white primer underneath! A classic example of using Autoglym SRP too frequently.

HTH.
