hey all,

a friend of mine is considering buying a 2003 bmw m3 s54 engine for his e30. now i was wondering is it possible to achieve the swap and the likely cost after buying the engine??

drop me a line. I can get the S54 ECU reflashed to run the engine WITH the fly by wire throttle in the E30

uwem3 il let him know you can do it :) and dips thats a good link but it doesnt give further information :( is there like a garage that would do the whole process?

i got into contact with munich motors, and they asked for approx £10,000 labour? is that suitable?

have a look in this months PBMW mag there's the one the guy who own's munuch motor's own's/built/drive's.

and it's a tech 1 sport.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

I had a figure of 10 -12 k from him as well. Can't remember with or without engine.

Pic up a S54 for lets say 4k with everthing you need leaves 6-8k labour.

If I was going to throw £10-12k at an e30 I'd want a lot more than an M3 engine under the lid. You'd have to really want to keep it BMW through and through to pay that kind of money in my opinion.

Can anybody answer me, these questions three... How much does the S54 weigh? What would it do for weight distribution ratio? How easy is it to turbo?
