M42 box ect ect ect..... release bearing!!

M50 engine
M42 box
M20 starter, fly and clutch
M20 clutch slave cylinder.....

Is the m20 release bearing ok to use??

And you had no problems with it? Thing is I've read a bit of conflicting information about this, some say use e21 release bearing, others saying put some weld on the m20 bearing and others say to just use m20 bearing but if you've used the m20 one and had no problems then I guess I will just go with that mate

If it turns out the M20 one doesn't work you can just frig the slave cylinder anyway, much easier than stripping the box off again.

you mean extend the push rod on the slave is it mate?

Yes I extended the push rod on mine, I think it was Danthe that mentioned as well that the E36 slave has a longer throw out to start with.

Aw rite, well in that case I will source an e36 slave before I put the lump in, thanx for the info

I'm using M42 box, M20 clutch, flywheel & starter, standard E30 slave and the M20 release bearing and it all works fine, no fettling of anything was needed and not had a single issue with anything. It's had abuse too with about 30 1/4 mile passes and the Z3 shifter fitted so it gets used in a hurry.

Okay mate, that's good enough for me! I will just go ahead and fit the engine now as it is. It can always be changed "if" needed, although fiddily. Cheers beemerlad
