Anyone aware of a guide anywhere on doing an M43 HG? Really could just do with a couple of tips on how to get away without buying any silly cam-locking tools or anything daft like that!

Ta :)

Tempting! But would somewhat defeat the object of having a boooooring but cheap-to-run daily hack.

Take two MAN pills and Deal with it :D

Seriously though, I know what you mean. Went for a small Diseasal hatch and came away with a 2.0 turbo saab..

On the engine front- is it Chain Driven? I think it is..Must be timing marks on it somewhere-surely?

Well I've currently got a 3.5 as a daily, but I need a lot more man pills to put up with that kind of mpg for 70 miles every day! 8O

Yeah it's a chain - kinda guessing it's a case of zip tie chain to top sprocket & mark the sprocket & cam... :?

Hello hello!

I didn't use one on a m42 or m40. Maybe mark them in some way, but just take lots of pictures from different angles.

Then just check agains the pictures when you put it all back together.

Jon I have the M40 cam locking stuff you are welcome to borrow if it's the same as the M43. I also have a Haynes E36 manual (that I bought because it covers the M42 engine) that may come in handy as well, should have the M43 info in there. I can throw both over to Mickeys garage in Poole if it's easier to grab from there. (Have a vague memory that you were moving, but can't remember where to)
