Hi again,

I'm wondering if the iX ever came to the UK right hand drive and in 2 door form? I've only ever seen one for sale on autotrader and that was french, left hand, 4 door with yellow headlights.

Also, I know the drivetrain/suspension setup is a bit different on an iX, i'm wondering if my dream is possible... to drop an M30 engine (or even 286bhp M535i engine S30?) in it for fun, and maybe turbo that? Of course when the money comes along i'd buy one, if i can find the above? Gold dust comes to mind. Basically, i want all of the following, a 4x4 3.5 turbo sport spec, m3 handling, = 325iXt :D I wonder? Possible? Or too radical, just a dream, of course, being the previous owner of two 325i's (not now sadly, got a pug 106 1.4d :( ), i'd like another one to strip and rebuild. Please discuss :D All comment i'm sure will be interesting.

do you mean M5 engine S38? an M535i engine is exactly the same as a 535i engine

and no I can't see that happening! the m30 engine is a tight fit as it is, and was never offered with 4wd in a bmw

m30 turbo is a great idea but the 4wd would be a major headache

I think maybe he means the M1 engine, as fitted to the M635csi?

The iX transmission is fragile enough as it is. Put a turboed anything on it & it'll be great for all of about 10 seconds...

oh, thought if i could build a 4x4 turbo'd 3.5 i could run over some scooby's, oh well, so stick to the rwd then? maybe i should focus more on putting the M635i, engine in then, just tune it, and not turbo it, keep it clean, keep it mean. how about running it on gas to save fuel?

Get wide enough wheels, decent+wide tyres, and I'm sure it should stay planted (eventually winkeye ). I've just got some brand new tyres (albeit fairly poor make, Falken ze512) and they're currently stickin like sh*t to a blanket. :D

It'll go pretty damn well without the turbo anyway! Save that for when you get bored... The 4x4 system's just trouble waiting to happen - even if it was stronger, parts aren't exactly common... & there's plenty of E30s with silly power that cope with RWD

Jim, those 512s have a good rep from what I've heard - need a pair soon, & it's either gonna be them or toyo t1rs... :?
Would have bought them this week if it wasn't for payroll ****ing up & charging me waaay too much tax! :x

a 3.5 from an e34 into a E30, then turbo it when i get bored, is that a 12v or a 24v? what is best for turbo'ing later 24 or 12v, thinking of all possibilities.

not got hold of a e30 i like so far, but when i get one i will give you a shout, have u got a site on your conversion? or pics/notes to share, i'd like some 'technical' (hence this forum) info on the M30 engine and how it behaves, weight, pro's/con's, plus info on possibility of converting it to gas, and turbo? asking too much there, individually it's possible, as a combination? hmmm...

thanks, deian

i'd say you're better off on an e34 forum them. there's only a few m30 powered cars on here.
