Hopefully someone from canterbury uses this place!

Where would you take your car to get the wheels balanced?

Hi, I'm not in Canterbury but most tyre garages should be able to balance your wheels properly. Watch out for Kwikfit stylee balancing where they put weights all roung the rims to compensate for the first weight they have put on in the wrong place!
What problem are you having?
Sometimes an old tyre going out of shape is mistaken for balance.

My car shakes badly when at around 70 miles an hour (80mph causes my cd player to stop working).

The tyres are about 10 months old so I'd hope it wasnt because of that, but it'd be nice to be able to ask someone without worrying about an "ooo yeah, you need a new X Y and a couples of Z's"

The four wheel alingment is done on a computer, checks camber etc etc, then you get a print out at the end once everything has been adjusted.

Of course if the cars lowered, then the camber is going to be well out anyway.

yeah it is a lowered car,

still 30 quid doesnt sound too bad just to eliminate a possible problem.

A balance wobble usually goes away when you go faster than the speed it wobbles at. If that makes sense.
Getting your wheels balanced and getting you tracking (Wheel alignment) checked would be a good place to start to rule them out anyway.
Yeah they are different, Tracking being out can cause your car to pull to the side and it scrubs your tyres, usually on the inside edge but it can be the outside but it has to be on both tyres or its not tracking.

Its more than likely that you have just dropped a weight on the rear wheels, best to get it checked out. At least you'll be able to listen to your CD player when your on the motorway once its fixed

Apparently my front tyres are bumpy and thats the problem.

For budget tyres that's 85 quid a piece, yay! (Well according to kwikfit anyway)

Your tyres will be covered by a Manufacturers guarantee usually 1 year, so if they have gone out of shape (gone bumpy) and haven't got uneven wear you could try claiming it back from them. But it is a slow process and they will try and blame it on your car having a fault. But if they cost you a lot it might be worth a try.

Never used any in Canterbury mate ! But I have heard bad things about Tyreweb in Ashford... I have a mate who works at Watling tyres in Ashford who did mine recently after my re-furb and was very careful with them..

You may find there are no other zoners in Canterbury - there are less than 10 in Kent that I know of.
