Well having said I didn't want to sell my E30, it would appear that as much as I will regret it, I think I need to - I would rather she go to someone who can enjoy it rather than rust on my driveway.

Realistically it will be years before I can afford to sort her out properly so I was wondering if I could guage a price for her? I was hoping £1500 but think that might be a tad over optimistic?

I haven't taken any recent pics, she has had some body work done since, bumpers and bonnet resprayed, SE side skirts fitted etc

Bad points:

BIGGEST issue - Prop shaft - possibly the bearings? I don't know but it is a bloody uncomfortable wobbly ride at the moment. 8O

Front driver side wing needs repairing / replacing - paint is chipping off and starting to rust, looks far more dramatic than it actually is

Driver seat bolster starting to fray

I put in a second hand chipped ECU last year but that has been playing up a little recently, however, I have the original ECU ready to be plugged straight back in

I am guessing the issues with it are an easy fix if you have the know how, I certainly dont and cannot afford to pay someone else - usual story really

the prop shaft bearing is an easy job to put right. is it taxed and mot'd? how many miles on the clock.
rust is usually worse than it looks as its far worse below the surface. much like an iceberg, 75% of it is below the surface and unseen.the rust issues would cause me more concern that the minor mechanicals and worn seat issues.

Yup taxed and MOT'ed - tax runs until end of December and MOT I would have to check - mileage is around the 113,000 mark (will double check that too). I recently bought a Yaris so my bm has been sat on the driveway for the last month or so :(

I believe the rust on the wing is simply surface rust where the paint has chipped off, as it has only started showing in the last 6 months - I could be wrong though so can take a photo in the tomorrow to show it better - it certainly isn't a poke-your-finger-through-it type hole if that makes any sense?!

I had the major rust spots sorted last summer, round the sunroof, bottom of my door etc - at that time, the bodywork chap told me that he though the cracking / chipping of the paint on the wing was down to an old repair, it is fixable but for the hassle and cost he suggested it would be cheaper just to pick up a new wing.

VERY relieved to hear the prop shaft is not a massive problem, I was worried it would be a massive hassle and very expensive fix.

Nice looking car.
If it helps Id be happy to sort the prop if you paid for the parts.
Guibo and centre bearing would be around £60 for both.

Hate to necro an old thread but its been a year and my poor car is still sat on the driveway - its been SORN for a year now - worth me sorting the prop shaft, taxing, MOT'ing and getting her running again or selling as is?

Any ideas on what I would be looking at price wise for either sorting her out vs selling as is?

Thanks :D

Its silly how much I still love this car even though I haven't driven her for so long!

It's ALWAYS worth selling a car with a ticket on it.

Devon's a big county, but I think a Zoner called eko is from those parts. He could EITHER be a good ally in helping you get the car rolling, OR he may know someone nearer to you who could help.

Send him a p.m. What have you got to lose?

I hope you realise that if your E30 has T and T and drives beautifully it won't be going to a new home, though

if youve not touched it in a year then its less worth doing now than it was originally. its not likely youll get around to it either.
if you really loved it youd have let it go by now into the arms of someone who'll really care. :D

To be fair, that is only due to cost! I had hoped to be in a position to get her back on the road by now, maybe have her on the road during the summer but I simply cant afford to tax, insure and run 2 cars and there is no way I can go back to using the E30 as my daily driver as the fuel bills were crippling me.

Am sorting it now as if its left any longer, I may aswell scrap her which is something I definitely dont want to do!
