I've had my cabby for about 6 years now i think, for the first three years i was really in to it but the last three years have seen a lack of commitment to it. I have done about a thousand miles in the last three years and i'm starting to think 'is it worth it.'
I hate the thought of getting rid but its seems such a waste, especially with no garage.
What do you guys think?

Ive had mine the same length of time - I parked mine up for 2 years and then got back into it doing a restore - I personally think youll regret selling it - a lot of them will 'die' in the next 5-10 years and I can see the value rising.

I think it boils down to just not having time for it. Don't get me wrong, I wash it, wax it, stand back and admire it but then go back indoors and forget it.
I bought a new hood for it last year but its taking up room layed out on the spare bed because i cant seem to raise enough enthusiasm. A couple of years ago I bought a 2.7 for it but even thats sitting in the garage.
I worry that i will regret getting rid of it but i just hate seeing it doing nothing.
I thought this would be an easy enough decision but its tough!

If the car is sat outside in all weathers, why not get a car cover ?
My first E30 sat outside, and i found that the cover did a good job.
The only problem was making sure the car was dry before i put the cover on it.
Try these people.

You must have a garage if the strocker is in it? Clear it out, stick it away and if you feel the same when summer comes, clean it up and sell it for top $.

They are only lumps of metal. If your in to it keep, it if not sell it IMO :D

I understand how you feel. I'm in the same boat with my convertible. Had it 6 years. cover about 1k a year, spend f*ckin fortunes on it and think, is it worth it.

BUT. If you love it, it certainly don't sound like you want to sel, keep it. You'll regret letting it go.

Just do the proper thing and give it away to a proper enthusiast who will look after it properly.

Did I mention how much I simply LOVE E30 BMW's? And what a skilled and dedicated car restorer I am?

how about a trial ? ..park it up at a mates drive or somewhere safe, for a couple of weeks and imagine youve sold it ,not have it there outside your house etc and not seeing it, and see how you feel

sounds a shame to have a cabby only doing 1k in 3 years in it and its not even garaged 8O

been on my mind a lot latley about selling my mk3 escort xr3 thats been in my garage sat for a year not being driven, and buying an e30 cabby to keep in the garage as a summer car and have 2 e30s

driving the escort with no power steering and not being as nice or comfortable inside, or as fast and a s nice a drive as my IS, is like driving a dinasour baked bean can, although i love the car and love the classic 80s fords , but i also really would like a cabby, but cant have 3 cars...so its either the xr3 or the cabby for a summer car

I have a 91 cab as well,my first E30, got in June this year, I can't stop driving it! done 3K miles already, I want to park it up over the winter and buy another car to drive when all the shit is on the road, but! I keep looking at other E30's for sale and want to buy one, the Bird says why have two cars the same?? Err, cos they are nice, I like them and they are good value, was going to get a 10 year old escort  but can't decide which E30 a coupe or a touring :D

Dezzy you make absolute sense my friend.
I think i will sorn it next month, clear out the garage, (almost a whole kitchen being stored) and see how i feel in 5/6 months, maybe even get the new roof fitted in the meantime to see if that changes my outlook...

and yes it does put a smile on my face on those very rare occasions!

See problem solved and you can explain to the Mrs that the market is strongest then so it would make sense to hold on to it that bit longer, thus advoiding any potenial ear ache

You'll regret letting it go. And once it's gone, chances are you won't ever see it again.

Unless it goes to a zoner of course

if your not using it get rid and use the money for something you will use. its a car and not something to get sentimental over especially since if you really wanted it youd use it more.
