My 1989 320i automatic has started to stall when driving away from a standstill. It idles fine but then dies when I put my foot down. If I get it driving it runs fine.
If I pull the electrical connection to the air flow meter off the car runs fine all the time.
The local mechanic says he can't fix it until I return the ECU chip to its normal condition (I have an ebay chip that has been running fine for 6 months, whereas this problem has crept up in the last month).
Any suggestions on the best course of action?
Is driving with the air flow meter disconnected really bad?
