Today I was chatting to an Amercian serviceman who is well into his E30 M3's (member of S14.net), not only does he have an amazingly well spec'd M3 nearing completion, he has an unused M3 shell in primer with stickers on the original BMW factory wooden cradle!!!
How rare??? God knows how much this is worth???
I'm going to see it one evening this week. I can't wait! (bit sad I know).

I am in the Cambridge area, I think we spoke at a Stevenange meet a while ago.
I will post all developments as I speak to him. The shell is in storage in the Kings Lynn area. Not to far.
He showed me some pics on his phone of various components he has bought for one of his M3's.
-Carbon fibre intake with ducting.
-Emerald/MBE management.
-Leda coilovers with adjustable top mounts.
-Racing dynamics anti roll bars.
-Retrimed black leather interior.
-5 different sets of wheels.
-modified suspension components (rear radius arms etc with extra supports/webs welded & machined in and powder coated).
-Shrick cams.
-Two different exhaust manifolds (I think one was ceramic coated).
-All new trims, clips, bits and pieces.
-And last but not least, he managed to get hold of the very last Evo block sold in the UK (can't remember the whole spec of block).
He has sooooo much stuff I'm sure I haven't even remembered half of what he told me.

He has built it all up over a few years. As American serviceman they get their rent/mortgage paid for them by the US Airforce. They just have to pay a few bills and feed them selves basically. (plus they are paid $$$$$$!).

The guy you are talking about is called Jake Larson, top fella !!!
He drove to Germany with a trailer and brought the shell back. He also has an early M3 that he is fully restoring.

Here's a link to the thread on S14.net when Jake first bought the shell. You might have to cut and paste it into your browser if it appears on two lines.
