Any news of a engine donor yet?
Didnt set out for pics mate, was going to pick my home made apple pie up from my Mams :P
Think im having the M50 out of Bens E34 but still watching out for a 2.8 if one pops up cheap beforehand.

Dan im not sure it would take spacers on the back or its going to catch the arches with weight in it.
Will look better when the 6 pot is up front though :D

Spent yesterday putting new rear beam bushes in.
One was totally gone while the other side looked relatively new.
Anyway about 4hrs to do boths sides so was pretty chuffed with that.
Not got round to replacing the topmounts yet as I couldnt be arsed pulling the side panels out of the boot so ill do them one day in the week.
Drives loads better now though,no more wobbly backend or knocking.

Been thinking about turbo`s too after reading Gunni`s thread on the subject.
Seems pretty straightforward to do so going to do a bit more research and maybe take the plunge.
Nothing too drastic, just some new territory for me to explore :D

Anyway couple of pics after doing the reart bushes...

The donor has landed :D
Lovely low mileage engine but has a overheating issue.
Cant wait to start stripping the head off once the engine is out.
Got all the bits to sort it including a replacement skimmed head, gasket set, headbolts, sump gasket etc and new vanos seals from Danthe.
Going to look into what fittings are required to plumb a turbo to it so I can tap the sump or whatever before it goes in.
Ive got a loom already modded in the garage with no EWS so might just fit it while the engine stripped.
Anyone want any bits from the rest of the car?
Has brand new front discs/pads,immaculate late spec trim,16" wheels, plastic sill covers etc?

Oh yeah, cant beat that LPG, equivalent of 45mpg on petrol :D
The only thing I could really do with is the tailgate looms that run up the pillars and into each side of the gate, but they will probably be fooked like 99% of others out there :)

You doing anything timing chain related mate? I've got genuine bmw timing chain tensionsers somewhere (the one on the side of the head and the one inside the engine between the cam sprockets) they are for an m52 but if your interested it could be worth checking if it will fit.

Good to finally see some progress! :D

Well finally got round to getting the timimg casing off.
Bastard tight that centre bolt.
Borrowed a SnapOn impact gun of monkey and even that wouldnt touch it.
Ended up using proper pikey methods to hold the engine stable then used a 3/4 ratchet with 3ft scaff pole...that done the trick :D
Anyway timing cover now gone to have a return pipe welded onto it which ill be getting back on Monday.
Gave the block a bit of a clean up and quick coat of VHT paint.
Ive no idea how long this will last when the engine has been run but looks tidy in the short term.
Camera makes it look a bit brighter than it is really.

Did mikey help?

That VHT paint certainly does brighten it up abit though. It should last a fair old amount of time, my exhaust has vht paint on it and look at how many times thats been on and off 8O

Are you lowering comp with a thicker gasket?

What sort of boost can these things take with standard comp?

What sort bhp are you hoping to run?

Sorry for the questions mate but interested in this look like its going to be epic!
