I'm a newbie (hello!) and just bought a C plate zinnobar pink coupe - anyone know if this is likely to be laquered? I'm borrowing a buffer to try and bring back the pink but thought it might be worth an ask first, cause if it's laquered I won't even bother!

try some t cut or just rub it applying some pressure in a small area with a white rag ,if rag goes pink/red then no its not laquered

It won't be laquered... Just polish it up. T-cut is very abrasive so use that to start with, I'd do it by hand too rather than machine, use the machine on the more polished up stage. To bring it back to life your gonna need to have the feel of the pressure in your hands.

Yep, no lacquer. It'll come up a treat with some polish and a few hours work. Have fun!!

Marvelous - thanks for that - it is pretty terrible but I don't mind putting the time in.

I did my Zinnober red E28 that had been gathering dust since 1992 (and had turned a kind of purple colour) by hand in a day or two. The difference was incredible. You won't regret it...
