Righty, pros and cons? If I do it I will buying a complete doner car, I already know the 325 engine will fit straight in no hassle, need ecu, oil cooler and manifolds, but thats why you buy the doner car innit? I know the 3.5 has 3 positions and needs engine mounts, and maybe a prop?
So how mush more power and is it really worth it to push in a 3.5 out of a 5 series? I sort of already leaning towards the 325, I have a good mechanical background, VW and Audi 3 yrs, back street garage 1 year and helping my dad with ahem friends cars since I was able to pump a brake pedal.
The conversion isnt imminant, just want to start gathering knowledge and figures so I can start looking. Serious planning going into this.
Regards Mark.
325 or 535?

assuming you mean m20 2.5, it'll go in in days if you get mates to help and shouldn't cost much more than what the donor car costs, which shouldn't be much.
whereas the 3.5 will take a long time and a fair bit of work/custom fabrication, and a lot more money.
the gain is around 50bhp/60lbft for a small weight increase
