Over the past couple of months I've collected nearly everything I need for my M50 swap. I just want to know, is there anything else I can change/upgrade to give it a few extra horse power and make it a bit more refined?

I have/will be doing the following:

M20 lightened flywheel
402 ECU (red label)
2.5" bore single pipe exhaust

My question is can I get the best out of the induction/inlet ? eg, what is the best air box/inlet etc etc?

I also plan on swapping the water pump (KWP) and M20 starter I have for brand new items.

I'm not going to go overboard with stuff (ie turbo/supercharger) I'm just after the little touches for behind the scenes.

Advice welcomed :D
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Standard airbox with a brand new filter is all you need, cone filters loose you low end grunt.

Not sure if a single 2.5" exhaust system will do the goods or not compared to the usual twin setup.

If it's a non-vanos lump then a Speedtouch chip would quite possibly liven it up.

I would concentrate on just making sure that all vacum hoses etc are in tip top order so there are no issues

It's vanos, I'll play about with the ECU's once its running I think.

The single pipe is probably the same as the chap who recently printed some impressive dyno results on here the other day, I can't find the thread but he is cooks mate?

I guess you mean standard M50 (E36) air box?

I know it's going to improve it no end anyway am just making sure.

Sounds like monkey. Hes got a single 2.5" stainless exhaust on his and a few other mods and it made 217bhp

single 2.5"exhaust works for me and makes a good noise :D cant say if it helps with power or not as i never tried a twin pipe set up but mine made good bhp . i don't know wot m50 e30s normally make though .

Yours has made the best power I've seen a stock M50 engine make with the help of just a remap/chip.

If it had those Schrick cams in Dezzy had for sale recently, phwoar I reckon it would be in the 230 region

They were non vanos

I like my single pipe system in makes a great noise on the M42 so it will be pornographic attached to an M50.
