Ok guys I have the following "ex-stock" here for my conversion, can I have some recommendations please?

M50B25 single vanos
M50B25 Auto flywheel
M20 Flywheel (320i)
M20 clutch (320i)
M20 Starter (320i)
M20 Gearbox (320i)
M42 Flywheel (318is)
M42 Clutch (318is)
M42 Starter (318is)
M42 Gearbox (318is)
320i Propshaft

I plan on using this combo:

M50 Donk
M20 Flywheel
M20 clutch
M20 Starter
M42 Gearbox
320i prop

So question one is, Flywheel would need lightening. Where can I get this done? Am in Derby but can travel (don't really want to post it) if nobody recommends anywhere then I will enquire myself with a few CNC engineering places I know of.

Question 2, is this the best comb of stuff from my stock pile? Would anyone say I am doing something silly here? I have a running IS so is the prop and diff needed from that rather than M20?

Is it worth buying a completely new clutch? If so what do you use or recommend?

I am a bit of a believer of doing things properly so don't mind spending a little more for the correct set up.

Please advise if possible

Thanks fellow zoners

:D
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

your list has the best combination of parts, new clutch, grind the sump where the flywheel touches it, the m20 flywheel is much lighter than the m50 one already, although machining a bit off the back does save the grinding. use m20 flywheel bolts. :)

Does anyone know if I can use the clutch out of my IS with the M20 lightened fly with the combo I've listed below:

M50 Donk
M20 Flywheel
? clutch
M20 Starter
M42 Gearbox
325i prop

Have an M20 and M42 available to use (would prefer to use M42 if it is compatible?) I can't look at it as it is on the car which is my dailly.

Any input welcome please! :D

I used a 320i prop with M40 gearbox and it needed extending a bit at the splines, the 325 prop is shorter so I'm not sure it would do it.

The clutch should be chosen to match the flywheel used, the dual mass flys have a solid centred friction disc, the solid flys have a sprung one.
