Had noticed the front carpet getting soggy in the last week or so after a bit of rain.

Decided to tackle the problem today, so first of all decided to take out the passenger seat so I oculd gain better access under the carpet.

After lifting up the carpet I discovered i would be needing a bilge pump, ahoy there my sea dogs! aaarrrhhh
I must have taken half a litre of water from the footwell once I got the carpet shifted, and that doesn't include the water in the foam on the back of the carpet

Ended up taking out the whole carpet which was a bit of a fanny on, centre console out, kick panels off, glove box out, both seats, under steering column panel, throttle pedal :x

Now it looks a bit racer stylee, not driven it yet but that carpet weighed a tonne! Should be interesting.

Now with the seats back in, oh and some mats for that bit of luxury

And the cause of the water coming in????

Pulled the cover off and can see below the wiper motor that some silicon seal between the panels has had it, so plan to sort the seal out and prevent water getting in.
Can give the carpet a proper shampoo whilst it is out too.

Will keep you posted if this sorts it

Damn, you got off lightly. My soggy carpet ended up being a fred flintsone style hole in the floor :\

Carpet is such a pain in the back side taking out, I can only imagine what this will be like putting back in...

Sure there's no rust holes in the inner arches?

built it from bare shell bodywork is near mint now,

my old 325i was rusty as hell so i made sure to get a good shell to swap all the parts over whilst doing any work needed at the same time

going to wait for dry day and take the lights out and then silicone them in maybe that will work the foam seals don`t seem to work
