Maybe I'm being a bit of a space cadet here, but my impression would be way higher than this. Loads of people are still new to E30 ownership whilst the number of cars are dwindling, you can still buy parts over the counter at the mainstream parts specialists like ECP and GSF, and also, when I've bought all of my E30's, not one has been bought from someone who has cherished it as a classic BMW.

Also, the likes of Ollie who's a 4 pot enthusiast, had a total nightmare trying to find a half decent 316i/318i to replace his chromie when it got written off - quite a high percentage of cars he enquired about were sold very swiftly after being advertised.

To be fair, you cant compare the E30 scene with the VW scene as one is a whole manufacturer and the other is a single model and one generation of it at that.

The mk 2 golf at that to make a true comaprison.

If it was the Golf of all variants then it would need to be the 3 series of all variants, not just the E30.

I had a '91 MK2 Golf GTi 8v, '91 MK1 Golf Clipper Cabrio, '82 MK1 Golf 1.6GL Cabrio, '89 Caddy 1.6 petrol. All were unreliable peices of shit. I would rather poke my own eyes out that get another Golf. For comparision, all my aged BMW's, E28 and E30 have been great cars. All disillusioned, these Golf drivers, with their funny haircuts and low slung trousers

The thing about the VW scene is its not just a single model of car so you cant really compare them its like comparing Manchester united to Hednesford town fc.
