i suspect i've killed my nearside driveshaft but before ripping apart i thought i'd check the symptoms with you guys...

i get a vibration under load at all speeds (harsher in 1st at full chat, annoying and noisy at speed)

i get a heavy shuddering when putting a lot of power down out of a right hand bend. (especially sliding out of T junctions!!! winkeye )

sound like a new driveshaft needed? (the car has a LSD btw)

Certainly sounds like a dodgy driveshaft, how did you knacker it ?.

I think I have a spare one in the shed if you need it.

err... could be something to do with refusal to steer with just the front wheels! it's on 163k so it's doing well! :)

oh, the extra strain the lsd, the touring fat arse, the extra grip of konis and 215/40/16 toyo proxes probably don't help either. i can launch at full throttle from 5000 rpm without wheelspin! (and i often do). that must put a massive load on things. :?

cheers for the offer. i may pass though as it'll probably cost a shed load to get shipped as i'm miles away so can't really collect.

E30 driveshaft failure is pretty rare. I've never seen a dud one.
I would think you should be able to feel a difference between the two shafts if one is gone.
Have you checked all the usual suspects like guibo , prop centre bearing mount and diff mount?

prop cemtre bearing mount is fine, guibo managed to 'lose' a bold last week but is sorted now. this looks nearly new.

diff mount i've not checked.

been playing today, it definately seems to shudder though the drivetrain under very hard straight line acceleration in 1st or if i turn right and put any power down. i assume this is due to left rear wheel position more than anything. it definately 'feels' like a CV that's about to spill its guts! :?

the only other thing that's going on is, a whine under any right corners. all all speeds and power inputs. this also seems to back up the right-rear driveshaft theory.

definately odd though, i've never killed one before or even heard of any dead ones!

a whine in corners would normally be a wheel bearing symptom, but I have no idea if that could cause the judder you are feeling, the bearing would have to be shagged out of it's brain to cause that I think, so would be whining all the time, so this post is of no use really

please don't say things like that!

as each day passes i'm getting more sure it's the nearside driveshaft. when driving uphill in 1st it's very easy to provoke the shudder. corner to the right and it's even easier, corner to the left and it's harder.

i'll just change them to see...!
:?
is this easy?
