put a new battery in my car was fine then 3 weeks later i went to start it and it was dead so got the jump leads out and started it....then drove it 15 miles and then turned it of and started it....it was fine.....but then 6-7 hours later tryed it and it was dead again anyone no why this is......

i had this happen to me the about 2 months ago
it was a duff battery i had got from halfords
i took it in got them to test it and they changed it for a new one

Have you check that the Alternator is charging?

you will need a volt meter and if it is that flat once you start it you should be seeing up around the 14 volt mark and as the battery comes back up to full charge the volts should drop back to around 12 - 12.5 volts this could be over a little time 30-40 minutes maybe alonger. you will probably need to take it for a longer drive then just 15 miles to get a really good charge back in the battery.

If you don't have these tools your local mechanic should be able to tell you pretty quickly what is happening as they should also be able to do a load test. but first things is to check that the alternator is doing its thing.
