Hi guys Im about to do a S50b30 conversion and wondered if anyone has used a lighter flywheel i.e M20 ? Im sure Iv read somewhere on here of this being done on M50 swaps with E30 M3 clutch and a modifing/pack up the clutch fork for release bearing. Sorry if this has been already covered but tried several searches with no success

i used the drift works light weight s50 flywheel and an uprated sachs clutch and preassure plate/release bearing combo. The engine spins up a lot better than it would with the standard dual mass flywheel but found the clutch very direct on/off,it takes a bit of getting used to and once the gearbox oil gets warm i got an annoying rattle, due to the flywheel being so light. It was great for a fast take off or sporty driving but i imagine hopeless manovering in a supermarket carpark! It gets my vote every time, im not sure about using the m20 stuff though.good luck

M20 clutch will last about 5 mins with an S50 anyway. Even the M52s can make a job of them easy enough with alot of abuse.
TTVs flywheel gets my vote!
Of course you could use one of these like I have for the back of my S54

I have a JB racing aluminium flywheel that uses the M3 pressure plate and sprung M5 friction plate. It makes the engine a joy to drive with and feels exactly like a stock clutch... Not for big torque though.
