Hi Guys,
I have just bought a car with FIA approved cage already welded in. but it doesnt have the side bars across the door openings. can I get these bits welded in to enable me to enter the pbmwc. Are there any special considerations i need to make?
Many Thanks
George

Yeah, make sure that your seat will fit if you have the wide version! Some seats are pretty tight up against the door bars so do a quick trial fit. Scrutineers will likely consider the door bars as part of the cage, so make sure you use CDS. A good idea regardless as you don't want the bars splitting along the seams in a shunt. Otherwise just profile the ends and weld the bars in place. Find a balance so the bars are high enough to offer some side impact protection, but not so high that you take ten minutes to climb in and out with the seat and steering wheel in place.
