Well, it's that time of the year again, cabby gets tucked up in it's winter wonderland until 1 April 2011.
I've been using it as a daily for the last 5 weeks and it's been bloody marvellous.
Anyone else hibernating an E30 over the next couple of days ?

A lad i know has a mint tech 1 sport, ive seen it with the kit off and its like new behind it.
Dolphin grey with black leather he uses it as his winter car oppose to his 1987 Porsche 911. kind of a shame to use such a mint original tech 1 sport in the winter i thought

I've had mine out today, the sport has not moved since Gaydon and the M3 since Tatton Park

I got back from Mexico yesterday and I decided to take them both out to put some life back into them

I'm off to Benidorm in Nov so I can see them not turning a wheel until the new year.

Yep mine is all tucked up!
What fooks me off more than anything is the fact that there will still be a good few days of sunshine before the salt hits the road, but I REFUSE to give the fing government another 6 months worth of tax for those few days!!!!

My cabby will be in the garage tomorow night.
Just taxed and insured the E36 touring for my "winter runner" although the MOT is due on it next week If it needs money spent on it, I reckon I have 2 choices:
If it needs money spent on it, I reckon I have 2 choices:
1: Tax the cab, and run it through the winter

2: Sell the E36 touring as an MOT failure, and buy a cheap car with at least 6 months MOT & tax

What do you reckon?

a breathable cover, get loads of the silica jel packs and place them over the dash to help soak up any moisture, more air in the tyres, lift and turn all wheels every couple of weeks.
If you want to go nuts cover all the panels underneath with petroleum jelly and it'll stay perfect.
Then again we used to do that on all the bright-work (stainless steel) before a yacht does an Atlantic crossing. Is a nightmare to get it all off again and all the stainless cleaned up.

Mine lives in a dry garage under a dust cover. It will get driven on dry winter weekends (if they happen this year). Tax runs out tomorrow but in Ireland its not the big crime that it is in the UK. And our insurance companies view road tax for what it is....... revenue for the government. It has nothing to do with insurance.

My tax runs out today on the H so its going to get a bath at the weekend and put away for the winter, inclusive with my gay ass breathable cover so it doesn't get dusty

I must get a decent mains trickle charger too to keep the battery in tip top condition, i tried a solar one last year and it was completely useless so i sent it back.
I've decided to sort out and keep my Alpenis touring now that i've got a little more time and have come across a decent garage who can fix her up for a song and MOT it
So i'll still be in an E30 this winter

a dehumidifier would need a run off for the water, also check the wattage before you buy so you can work out the running costs.

I do 12 hour shifts through out the winter, outside, days and nights.
If my cabby thinks it,s staying tucked up nice and warm while i freeze my nuts off,
it better wake up and smell the Waxoyl.

One more winter of discontent for my cab, still my only car until next autumn hopefully, then it goes into semi retirement. On the plus side, I am moving into my mates soon who has a lovely large garage. The hard top is on standby to go on real soon too.

Quite lucky - ive got in integral double garage with an insulated door and boiler in it so even in the winter its still quite mild - was planning on a 2.8 build over the winter but the bellend called tim sands sold me a 2.5 crank claiming it was a 2.8 - got everything else.
