i've run a jbl active tube in my previous e30's and it was great for my needs. i only want an add on and not a huge build.

what is the best option? it will be run from RCA's. i like the jbl tube, but is a box better? the battery is in the boot so is easy to add.

and should i knock out the ski hatch to increase the bass in the car or not?

thanks,
rich.

it doesn't need to be moved mate, just wondering which gives better feel really.

as i said, i have had the jbl tube before and liked it so will probably go for that again unless someone can give me a better active alternative.

thanks.

id go vibe 12inch enclosed box with a decent vibe or jbl amp..kinda on the cheaper side but they give a good kick..backed up with decent car speakers and a good quality head unit and wiring kit you cant go wrong..im running a jvc head with inphase 5 1/4 all round and a 12inch fli sub amp combo..sounds good enough to me..dont care what anyone says..ive had pro installs in cars and the fli is one of the better plug n play units ive used..or the edge from halfords..dont take up too much space and loud enough to leave ringing in your ears :D :D :D

Go for a vibe 10 inch enclosure with the built in amp it is more than enough trust me! they are readily available on ebay second hand cheap and they sound great in the boot of an e30. You can get a 12" but the 10 gives a punchier bass line

thanks mate, i have been looking at the fli active boxes.

i will be putting a decent head unit in and upgrading all the speakers in the original apertures to keep it looking stock so this may be a good option.

either vibe or fli pal..ive had both and they are good....dont take up much space..and are easily removed if u need bootspace for anything else...i got a jvc head unit 4 x inphase speakers and the fli combo for 60 quid off ebay.fair dos they are 2nd hand but they look and work as good as new pal

Im with you there my speakers are shot to pieces :D

If you want to go silly get the vibe cbr12 twin enclosure. That puts out some silly amounts of bass but i doubt it would go in the boot as i had it in a e30 touring, but i also had it in the boot of a 300zx so you never know :D

Im getting my oldskool kenwood mask fixed to go back in the e30 along with an mp3 cd changer, hidden alpine speakers and another 10" vibe active enclosure due to my old one getting nicked.

Ive tryed Fli stuff and havent had much luck as i like my tunes loud when the stereo is on, wasnt to impressed with the durability but the sound quality is good as vibe makes Fli products.

ahhhhh a mate just called saying i can have his bass tube... result!

so i'll be living with this for now - http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... oduct.html

he reckons it was better than my JBL so i'm looking forward to getting it!

should i knock the ski hatch out of the boot anyway to get some more bass in to the car or not?

thanks,
rich

looks ok pal..wouldnt bother knocking ski hatch out though..bass is a heavy distortion of low freq sound particles passing through air..itll find its way ha ha :D

+1 for the fli boxes , have a 10" one myself that was £80 odd, and gives nice bass and fills it out

if there wern't people like me,
with cars like mine,
who would you put down to make yourself feel better?
