I think most people here will reccomend the zone chip. I don't have one but I have seen a lot of good feedback and the dyno figures seem impressive. You will need to talk to Ant.
Some chips are tuned to take into account a modified exhaust (and maybe intake) so you are supposed to have them before you fit the chip. The intake apparently doesn't do much for these engines but if you want one make sure it is a proper kit that is heat shielded from the engine bay and maybe think about ducting some air to it from somewhere (maybe the foglight holes if you don't have foglights). I think most people say that a good 6 branch will make the most difference for the exhaust, although mine hasn't done anything. The one sold in the Zone shop is supposed to be good bubt again I don't have that one.
The best chip should be mapped for your car on a dyno, this will give the best gains. That isn't always possible though so most chips are more general.

Chip will give much better gains than an induction kit - I've heard of people going back to standard induction as there's no noticeable gains.
No setup necessary with the right chip, just plug in and go, although you can have the full remap job done for lots more money.
LSDs always coming up for sale here, keep your eyes peeled, but TRY TO KEEP THE SHOUTING TO A MINIMUM.
I've got a headache.

When I bought my touring, it had an induction kit on it. It didn't run particularly well, but it wasn't really bad either.
I took it off and re-fitted the original set-up and gained a little bit extra mid-range pull and didn't really notice any loss at the top-end. It's smoother throughout the rev-range with the original set-up too.

fookin hell it felt like the car had been reborn such a difference and it seems to also give this gorgeous sound when you floor to the limiter
a massive improvemnt which should feel even better if i ever get round to servicing her
i also have the 325 tb and this alone was a big improvement but now with chip its loads of fun to drive again

I just got my 323i back from the dyno, timing was out and I gained power and torque everywhere and about 11hp at the wheels maximum. I really can't tell if it is pulling any better. It definately feels smoother up high but I can't tell if the acceleration is any better. How much power have you gained to be able to feel the difference?!
I have a standalone ems (and 6 branch, exhuast and no AFM) too and the engine is still only making about standard power so I wouldn't expect a chip to do anything for a 323. Sounds like the other engines get good results though.
