Hi guys, well my dad is getting a brand new motor and as its my e30 thats taking up his garage space( :P )he's keeping it outside!
So my question is how can he keep cats off his new car? Are there any products that can be bought, that will be harmlessly effective ?
Mods please feel free to move,if required.

Buy an ultrasonic cat scarer. Obviously it won't work for old deaf cats but it will keep nearly all the moggies at bay.

Sit outside at the dead of night in your garden, when you see Tiddles making a beeline for your E30 let the pussy have both barrels of your 12 bore at close range, that'll sort out the little rascal :D :D

You could stick a dog on the roof to guard it, but it'll probably do more damage...HTH :D

It really won't do any damage to the car. If it did, this wouldn't be happening!

Its ok until they want to get off the bonnet. Then they put their claws out and scratch the paint on the way down. :( Well they do round here anyway. :)

Passive IR motion sensor (i.e. motion sensitive driveway light controller) wired to small electric pump to make the car and surrounding area wet. A little water on the car is far, far better than cat's claws. Just make sure the water is on before the cat gets on the car or else you get frantic clawed scrabbling and plenty of scratches as it tries to get away from the water.

Of course the real solution is to catch the cat, give it to the council and cost the owner a fine to get it back. Cat owners just think their little darlings can kill birds or crap in anyone's garden.

Step 1

Sprinkle cayenne pepper around the car. It has been known to keep cats away, and you don't even need to sprinkle it on the car, though that might be even more effective. After a few days, the cats should leave and not come back. If they return, try again or move on to another possible remedy.

Step 2

Purchase mothballs and spread them out around your car, including on the car's roof. Alternatively, put the mothballs in a bag and hang them. The scent is strong, so beware. But cats don't like the scent either, and will stay away.

Step 3

Set up an ultrasound pet alarm. An alarm, set off by a motion detector, scares off cats. It costs about $30 and is very easy to set up, even on the roof of a car.

Step 4

Try a CatStop. This product works for up to about 20 feet by emitting a high-pitched sound that humans can't hear. It runs on batteries or electricity.

Step 5

Use a ScatMat, which scares the animals off, teaching them not to go on your car. However, instead of an alarm, it uses static to alarm the cats. Depending on the size of the mat you buy, the ScatMat can cost anywhere from $20 to $420. After the cat learns to stay away, you can put it away until you need it again.

Good advice from Phims there.

You can buy products in Wilkinsons and similar places I noticed today specifically for this purpose. Pepper powder and stuff like that.

Those of you, who are baron, heartless, unloving bastards, consider that if you harm a cat you cause a lot of distress and cost to cat owners. So you obviously don't care about people either.

Cars do a lot more harm than cats, obviously, so take your hateful logic and shove it.

I got the same problem, the person who lived in my house before me forgot his b****** cat and my next door neighbour keeps feeding the thing :x :x

and it kept sitting on my GTI and one day it put MASSIVIE scratch's all over the bonnet, but not just that, when i've cleaned the car the cat walks over it and leaves paw prints all over it, i was thinking about a car cover, but dunno if it would slip as the cat jumped up and the cat would claw to stay on... hate that F****** cat

......sorry rant over
