Just bought a 318is thats damaged and was wondering if the suspention is interchangable with my 88 320i, What other mecanical bits are worth swapping?

Swop the lot over
suspension, anti roll bars, engine, gearbox, prop, diff....
assuming you can live with 4 pot wrongness....

The suspension is the same as the 325 sport and will swap straight onto the 320 because the shell is the same too.
The engine is worth swapping too as already said.
