What's the best product for engine plastics (black)

Is glass polish better than cleaner?

I find glass polish is better than cleaner simply because its easier to apply and get off with out leaving streaks and you can see how much of the window you have cleaned or not cleaned due being able to see the polish on the glass

Dezzy, you can,t beat a bucket of warm water and vinegar for glass.
Soak an old newpaper to apply it, clean of with dry newspaper.

Glass polish is a PITA to get off window rubbers, I use the spray but squirt it at the rag so it doesnt get on the paintwork.

That why you apply your plastic/rubber cleaner/treatment after you have polished your windows and if any of that goes on the windows you just polish it off again with a dry clean cloth

My airbox and loom cover are a bit minging with a yellowish scum on them. I need them to be mint to match the engine your building me Dan.

While on the subject of cleaning black plastic, what do you lot use for cleaning the grill??

I find most of the stuff you can buy to do such a job looks good when its first put on, but after you've been on a drive all the dust and crap off the road sticks to stuff you have applied to the grill

I completely agree with is! The high endurance tyre gel is very good at being back to black and its what i use in my engine bay

I always use auto glym products bumper care is good on rubber as is vinyl and rubber care spray

Thats the reason why i use the autoglym vinyl and rubber care on the grills - becuase its easier to apply than a gel

Glass Polish And Glass Cleaner are different things.

Use the Polish for a "deep" clean, just not too much of it because the more you use the more dust you create. Nice and light and follow with an MF (I use the cheap screwfix ones).

For weekly/daily use, use a glass cleaner, I am using Espuma Crystal Green now, I use to use Autoglym or Autosmart but this stuff is fantastic (so much so I am selling my fast glass as its not needed (about 3 litres left)) and thats a quick spray onto the glass and mf off (fold into quarters, use to wipe on, turn over and wipe off for smear free).

If you get the polish on the rubbers/trim then the glass cleaner will remove it, I use swissvax seal feed for most car's rubber or autoglym bumper.

Engine bay is either 303 or valet pro protectant.

Looking at your pic I would go for fk1000p for the alloys, you could use that instead of the carlack68 but you would be better using a paint cleaner before the fk1000p just to get the best prep for the wax.
