Hi it came with the car, the previous owner did say it was about £130 and it was called a monsoon cover. google it and there are a few about. Its only a few weeks old but at the mo it's superb even after very hard rain and wind it's still dry and in place

:D it's A noise I'm still getting used to, after owning a 05 impreza STi for a couple of years it's just sounds like I'm going to blow it up!. my favourite point is about 5-6k it seems to hit a deeper note there more induction noise? I've had a play with an audi a4 2lrt turbo.
My favourite though has been a rolling start with a legacy twin turbo wagon about 260bhp, I was rolling (just) he was stopped lights changed and all could hear was dump valves and boost i would have out gunned me in the end but I think it gave him I surprise as I howled past. Having owned a legacy b4 twin turbo with a standard 280bhp I was very surprised how much difference a lighter car with less drive train loss can have.

E30_kid is yours a two of four door? Is there anything I should watch out for? It's going in for a inspection 2 Thursday so hopefully it will be given a clean bill of health!

Mine hits a deeper note at 5k also, 5-8k sounds just out of this world. Plenty of fun through tunnels :P i owned a N Reg impreza wrx running 344bhp. It did sound truely awesome but id have my e30 over that anyday. Mines a two door mate, id recommend you sign up to s14.net it can be really handy if you need any questions answered.

Heres my car;

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... highlight=

And heres some info i pulled off one of my other threads;

A 320IS has 192bhp @ 6900rpm and 155lb/ft of torque at 4900rpm

These are the model numbers;

AK95- Two door- Produced 03/88 til 11/90
AC95- Four door- Produced 09/87 til 07/90

2542 two doors produced
1206 four doors produced

These are the S14 engine, but with a shorter stroke. They were produced for the Italian and portugese market as there goverments taxed heaverly on cars over a 2litre.

The strokes are;

1990cc- 72.6mm
2302cc- 84mm

Very very nice. Does the carbon air box give it even more induction noise? Is it something worth investing in? Do you need to re map after modding like Imprezas? How clever is the ecu? I keep looking at bbs rs/lm wheels there are some very nice ones out there, though I think I would stick with the same size.

Cheers Charlie

Cheers, yeah all you can hear is air being forced in. I can hardly hear my exhaust most of the time. Personally if i had your car i would leave it exactly the way it is. From the pictures i saw on pistonheads its absoleutly mint, would be a shame to start tampering with it. Id give my right arm for your car!! I was looking at bbs rs's for my car also, there awesome. Alot of maintenence though with the polishng and all. Lm's are lovely also, they have a real nice motorsport look about them. Check wheels-whores cause both rs's and lm's come up on there from time to time.

Cheers, Noah

You don't know the half of it! It is even tidier in real life. Don't drive it in the wet and will probably store it off the road in the winter. Meaning I will have to cycle everywhere! Sacrifices have to be made!

I know what you mean I don't think I could bring myself to touch anything under the bonnet but it just looks so nice that carbon under there! so might go down the wheel road instead. I did manage to get a spare wheel fuel can on here which is a bit ocd. But it's nice knowing it's there!!

Do you know what sort of underseal might be on the 320is, would there have been any put on for the Italian/por market?

Do you still have the standard alarm on yours? I'm having some trouble getting it working not sure if it's me on it's broke.

As soon as i saw it i feel in love with it, wish my IS was up to that standard. Yeah sacrifices have to be made but is certainly worth it. The carbon does look nice, at the end of the day its your car and it can always be put back to standard so if carbon tickles your taste buds go for it. I dont know what a standard s14 sounds like but with a carbon airbox they sound the tits! I had a 316 before with 46000miles on the clock, so i nabbed the toolkit outta it before i sold it to put in my IS :D :D On the underseal i have no idea, i'll have a look around a few forums and try and get you a answer. My car has a Sigma S series alarm on it so i cant help you with that either, Sorry bout that.

That is a amazing noise..just done think I can bring myself to start pulling bits off!

On another note

I had it serviced at Munich motors, inspection 2 and sorting little bits and bobs in Wokingham it was very very impressive. Clive and derrick (brothers and owners) both very knowledgeable. there are some truly awesome cars there, a e30 325i with a last gen 6cly m3 engine in dont know the engine code! Which is the cleanest car and conversion i have even seen.......And a e30 m3 evo 2 which is having a ground up nut bolt re-build again it's like new. I think the first car will be featured in One of the bm mags soon to.

I cannot recommend Munich motors enough
