Rav I do think it's a good laugh. I love the banter. I would like it cleaned up once my car is right though. Just as a record of all the work I have put in.

Nothing mate.
This is something I have been donated by a friend. My little 207 has two engines in it ATM.
I will be needing some of Dan's spare parts and magic to pull it all together. It's not a massive change really just M50 cams arnt needed anymore.

Wasn't to hard to work out really was it. 2.8 management will run the donk better before mapping. The vanous will make it nicer to drive and the added bonus of ews.
I just think it will be the best it can be this way. In for a penny and all that.

Vanos in my understanding if i have this right gives you more low down tourqe rather than all of it in the top of the rev rangee30topless wrote:sorry to go off topic but ...

ruthlessly copied & pasted
VANOS is a combined hydraulic and mechanical camshaft control device managed by the car's DME engine management system.
The VANOS system is based on an adjustment mechanism that can modify the position of the intake camshaft versus the crankshaft. Double-VANOS adds an adjustment of the intake and outlet camshafts.
VANOS operates on the intake camshaft in accordance with engine speed and accelerator pedal position. At the lower end of the engine-speed scale, the intake valves are opened later, which improves idling quality and smoothness. At moderate engine speeds, the intake valves open much earlier, which boosts torque and permits exhaust gas re-circulation inside the combustion chambers, reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Finally, at high engine speeds, intake valve opening is once again delayed, so that full power can be developed.
VANOS significantly enhances emission management, increases output and torque, and offers better idling quality and fuel economy. The latest version of VANOS is double-VANOS, used in the new M3
.
VANOS was first introduced in 1992 on the BMW M50 engine used in the 5 Series

Popped down the M1 today to brother Dans. Dropped two donks off and had a Loom mod'd for the rev counter.
As usual Dan sorted (and will sort) my mistakes out. Thank god for Dan I say.
Have sourced a pair of S52 cams hopefully. Waiting to hear back from a bloke on E36coupe so fingers crossed.
Feeling better now I know things are happening and I will end up with a better motor once Yoda has worked his magic.

Have you found out what went wrong with the orgional one you built yet? would be intrested to see what why it seized. I look at alot of seized machines at work and would be intrested to know what the diagnosis is.
Do you still think it was the bores being machined alittle on the small side, where it went tight?
