Whats up guys!

Niggly little problem with my accelerator pedal man!

Dont know if it has anything to do with the colder weather but the other morning i went to drive off and as i was coming to change to second gear the pedal jut stayed put with the revs at about 3000. I had to manually bring the pedal back to its original position each time i lifted off it! :-x

Now i have also found the pedal to be very stiff after i sprayed the pedal spring and arm with good old WD40. Was this a mistake? :?

Got BBTB of a mate to plug in so hopefully this is a minor glitch.

Your help and advise is grealty appreciated as always.

its probably the cable splitting.

I had that, get rather ammusing when you have to be in gear, but using your brake in traffic! As if your in neutral, it revs right up!

Cost about Ԛ£25 from ECP and isn't that hard to fit about 1hr job

Bare funny when i need to be in gear...car just flys forward. Thing is,my dad was in the car when i found this out and he was pooing his pants. Too funny!

So the cables splitting...bloody hell...where do i even start if i want to change this myself?

Going to be well para when me driving now! :(

TBH i wouldn't drive it any more otherwise it might snap, then you would be sorry.

all you do its, unbolt it from the throttle and then unhook it from the pedal and pull thte fixing away from thte bulkhead.

You could try lubricating the throttle body mechanisms too, some of it may be stiff, best way to check is to remove the cable from the throttle body and try it then, also try spraying some lubricant into the sheathing of the throttle cable, my touring had this problem when I first bought it, a quick spray with some WD40 soon solved it!

I don't think you should put WD40 on the cable as this will dissolve the grease that is already there, grease it yes, WD40 no.. :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

just go get a new throttle cable im sure i ve only ever paid like 10 er for one from bmw!!
its a 5 minute job disconnecting the cable and refitting another one ive done this job over 5 times now its something i always do to the old ens lol!! when i do change them i always buy a few extra bits I E the knuckle the cable goes into, and the little plastic casing that surrounds the cable i have drew these for u in a picture i will put below.
The cable goes thru the bulkhead but thats probably as hard as it gets but i still think its easy just follow it to where it goes dude!! if not bring it here lol ill do it.

O and listen to wat ppl say about em snapping lol as i had one snap on me i was lucky i had a wiring block spare in me glove box lol i managed to fix it together in the wiring block lol!! hope this helps buddy!

Think i will probably go to main dealer and see how much it is there as i have to get breather pipe for rocker cover as well. Hope its Ԛ£10 over here too!

Glad to hear that no-one here has had no real difficulty with changing the cable...hopefully i can look forward to a nice quick job with no dramas.

Nice red manifold and rocker cover matey.Makes a nice difference from seeing black ones all the time.

lol that big round silver thing is called a FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR formally known as a FSE power boost valve m8 they work well when fitted correctly however if not fitted correctly can cause all sorts of problems but i fitted mine myself as i did everything and it never let me down only helped the car i think!!

O and the Mk1 is coming along sweet theres a thread on here about wat happened lol but to cut along story short the cambelt that i thought had snapped hadnt snapped and after 7 hours of head scratching and going thru everything on the car i got to the ECU and it was totally bolloxed not alowing fuel or air or any spark to run into the car totaly FUKKKD lol so i took the one off my dads hartge h26 and dropped it on and she fired straight up and now is absolutly rapid lol!!

My throttle was sticking open after the car sat for over a month when the head first went. I just greased up the springs etc on the throttle body and cables and its been fine since. Might as well try this first.
