Hi Guys

What do you reckon to my new wheels.

Image

Just had these referbed and tyres put on. Went to try them on my car but they wouldn't fit. The centres wouldnt fit on the Hubs if you know what i mean. It says ET40 on the inside. Is this too much of a problem

Has anyone had this problem. What would you recommend.

ET40 will have them tucked quite far inside the arches. Standard E30 offset is about ET23 I think.

I'm guessing the centrebore is smaller than 57.1, which is why they won't mount up flush to the hub

You'll need at least 20mm spacers and centrebore machining out by the sound of it.

Measure the centre bore of the new wheels.

if its not far off 57.1 you can get them machined out, But then you will need 4 spacers at at least 15mm to give an ET25 (standard is ET24 for a 7j rim)

Machining and 4 hubcentric spacers will probably come to more than the wheels are worth.

These r 7j rims. I'm gona get them machined out tomorrow but don't see why the need for spaces. These Are 17" with 205 40 tyres.

You'll need spacers.
Take a look, ET40 on a 7j rim will hit the strut with the tyres you're running.

They will look gay without spacers as you'll have loads of arch overhang.

Look at my car in this pic. The rims are 16" ET36, so sit out 4mm more than yours will. On the front is a 20mm spacer. On the rear, no spacer. See how gay it looks. (i got some more spacers and fitted 20 on the back, 15mm on the fronts. As in the 2nd pic.

For one, the rears 'will' be scraping on the shocks.

I had ET40 17" on one of my E30's, to get it to 'run' you will need at least a 5mm spacer on the back but IMO it will make you E30 look FWD

Here's a pic of the said car, they were TSW imola's and i ran them on 20mm spacers

You can get them off Ebay but make sure you get the 'hubcentric' one's.

That's for a pair so you would need 2 lots.

25mm might be a bit high, try positioning the wheel where you want it to sit in the arch and measure between the back of the wheel and the hub to see what size spacers you need, as stated above you need somewhere between 15mm and 25mm.
