it's all a learning curve, any first time resto is ,Alex wrote:Dont know why i bother to be honest,
it it was mine I would have fragged it but you seem to carry on towards your goal,
it's good to see enthusiasm from a young chap like yourself with limited funds/tools in a small garage
your almost an inspiration
still, get your act together and sort the bird shit welding out !
Still, at least if you do throw the towel in with it after a year or two, you'll still have plenty of morsels to transfer to another shell.

Nothing much mick However i'am very prowed of the fact i have managed to line all the windows front and rear up correctly. non of this catching on the hood or overlapping with the rear windows. all the lines are exact and the top of the windows sit nicely where they are suppose to. i belive this is an art to achive
Ran like a bitch yesterday with loads of backfiring, but after an immense backfire like gun fire it now runs nicely

log book arrived after 9 month
i will be honest, i'am really fighting for either this or an e90 or 1 series next year though
fancy a 320d or 120d and taking it to the re mappers 200bhp + and a stack load of torque
Also toying with the Idea of prehaps going for a tech 1 look all colour coaded??? For the price i sell some of the alpina morsels for it will pay for all of that. if i stay with my current look i need a set of alpina wheels and a steering wheel ££££££££

My weldings still shitty but ive almost completed it all
ive sorted a Tech 1 kit with nice rear chrome bumper and have sorted some tech 1 cabby skirts. will be collecting the skirts and getting the rest of the kit next week hopefully.
I think i also might have done a deal for a set of Blue leather cabby sports seats which will finish it off nicely.
here is the door shut and behind the side strip, the door shut needs a good rub down and some fine filler and the stuff ive used so far was quite messy

Side bit, i did this in small sections at a time so i could get behind the patch with zinc primer and seam sealer so shouldnt rust anytime soon.

Tech 1 skirts will cover this hence why i used hammerite further up than it should be

when welding it burnt the paint off at the bottom so i'am going to have to touch that up.

Inner arch
i used a genuine bmw inner arch and used the lower half to patch the whole up.

PS. i ran out of filler and used fiberglass reinforced filler on the arch lip
Nasty stuff wont use it again

Before

i started doing the battery tray today but ran out of materials and couldnt be arsed going to get some more. hence the hammerite
i need to trim this patch down where the red line is

some random pics of ze turd

I'm planning to learn the art of welding soon, a mate of mine used to do it for a living so he's going to be Mr Miagi, with me being Danielsan.

Keep em both. Date for MOT will be Start of Feb. God knows if it needs out, had a look underneith suspension seems ok, rear subframe bushes and front wishbone bushes seem ok. rear arb bushes look a little frilly though.
I have a funny feeling emmisions may be a problem it puffs out a bit of black smoke and has a little hesitation but its been of the road for 3-4 years so
ive changed the plugs, oil, done tappets, cambelt and water pump and had the whole intake off and used expanding degreaser and intake cleaner up it.
need some headlight adjusters for MOT i know that. the car itself should be finished by xmas.
then once the car is on the road i'am going to take it somewhere where i can get a new rear window fitted.
Could do with some new shoes too the current ones are cracked to death, probably an MOT fail

Probably never with my welder and limited resources, thats seriously good, its hard enough cutting a piece that fits correctly, check out the spacing between the new panel and the cars bodywork
