Sold my E36 last week for an offer no one would have refused.
Planned on replacing it with an E46 but cant find one I like within my budget.
Anyway spotted this Touring on Ebay and the auction ended with no bids.
Description made it sound like a good car so spoke to the owner and arranged to go and view it today.
The car is a real gem :D
Local car with 2 elderly owners, full BMW history minus 1 stamp and every MOT from new.
Interior including the rooflining is mint.Tiny crack just starting to show on the dash which is a shame. It did have some shitty CD player fitted but that came out as part of the deal but managed to get the factory Bavaria stereo of him.Was nice to see uncut wiring behind there so it plugged straight back in.
Bodywork is perfectly straight and rust free.Few tiny blisters and chips in the paint but for the age of it its a belter.
New discs and pads alround, new steering rack, tiebars, droplinks etc in last 2 months.
Spotted the paint sticker on the strut top,Mugello Red.
New this had to be pretty rare colour as ive never heard of it before.
Anyway made the guy a ridiculously low offer which he turned down.Bit of bartering later and its mine :D BARGAIN!
Was planning to just run it as is for a few months untill I save a bit more for the E46 but thinking I might as well do it some justice and bring it a bit more upto date.
Its only a 316i but wont be for long :P

Few phone pics....

No polished pink here winkeye

Mugello was used on some late 3.6 E34 M5's.

Ive never heard of it used on an E30!

Is yours a '93 or '94 L Tony?

Modding has begun!
318is lip spoiler fitted.Might paint it matt Black and get a set of matching SE sideskirts.
Going to view a 328i shortly which will hopefully make a good engine donor/
Spoke to Chris and he will make me some stainless manifolds when he has finished the ones he is doing for someone else.

I'd be tempted to not matt black it if its actually mugello - not something you see everyday. Good ole Chris and his manifolds :D (pauldeacs is breaking his 328i i think now if this donor is shite btw)

Im sure i have some SE skirts in the attic...

come to think of it, it might be lee actually but yeah whoever you sold the steering wheel too :chuckle:

The SE skirts were never fitted to the iS when i had it, i personally arn't too keen on se skirts on red 2 doors. The skirts have never been painted either iirc! If you want them i'm sure i could be pursaded

Why is he breaking it?
Would prefer a full donor car for obvious reasons ie air con fan/rad/box etc and a low mile nikasil replacement would be a plus point!

What will it take to persuade you then?24hrs in Mikeys company perhaps? :chuckle:

hes bored of it and he was going to put the car up for something like 1300 but its already in bits by the looks of it

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %26otn%3D2

What box you using then? 328i box? I still have a 3.64 LSD tucked away :P

Mikeys company is priceless, i cannot rob you of some as unpriceable as that. I can however put a price of something like 30 notes? i can't remember if its got all the clips though!

Mate I think you should leave it totally standard, I think you will spoil it. Sell it to Old Colonel cars for top dollar buy another one for pennies and use the rest to fund the engine conversion :) Just my 2 pence worth. I am really liking the idea of a red e30 now.

Not sure on the box yet.Ive got the M44 box and think 3.38 diff in the compact i could use but 328 box is probably stronger so ill see :D
£30 is good for me
Any steering wheels?
This has got SE wheel fitted making it feel like driving Chris`s boat!

:chuckle: bless him

Can you use the m44 box? Just remember how lively mine was with the 3.64 and the 328i box - it was almost undrivable in the rain! What about using the m40 box?

The only steering wheel i have is the same as yours. Unless you want an e36 steering wheel + airbag :chuckle:

Ive never driven with a 3.64, will prob try it out on a track day :)

Ive got a 3.38 Z3 diff in my track car and thats great for acceleration, not too bad for cruising either if you dont mind staying at 60mph odd

Yes still got the chromie 325i drift/shed/thing i bought from alex(kdrift). Its not on the road yet, nearly ready for mot but bad weather/work/other cars keep slowing my progress  Must remember to buy finished cars, not projects i havent got time to do!
