You know what they say about you donÔš't know what you've got till it's gone? Well I can confirm that about the Zone. There is just NOTHING out there for E36Ôš's Ԛ—a well there are several US-based forums, but nobody answers questions you post.
So, as an EX E30 owner of 5ԚÂa years, IÔš'm throwing myself on the mercy of the Zone experts Ԛ—a laugh at me if you like Simon Ԛ—a IÔš've just acquired a dodgy E36 M3 which pinks badly under load, which I thought should be impossible as they have knock sensors.
Anybody throw any light on this? Is there anything else that could cause knocking? No, it's not the VANOS; and the engine otherwise is silky smooth and quiet.
Who fancies an E36 M3 question pretty pretty please?

Thanks mate, I didn't know about that one... yeah, DEFINITELY pinking. Don't tell me the E36's lose their studs like the E30's!!!E30Mark wrote:Have you tried http://www.e36coupe.com
Sure it's pinking? not blowing at the Exhaust manifold ???

Roger, the link that Mark gave is a great site, just like the zone but for E36's, but E36.com also caters for other BMW's too.
I'm on there too, so keep an eye out!

No! I haven't taken any yet. And must turn the E30 one off, as I don't own it any more, sob, hope it blows up with the new owner inside for selling me a dodgy M3, if I can figure out how to...A1BMW325iSport wrote:slightly off topic but can you put some pics up of the car
What on earth do you want to see pics of a bog-standard E36 M3 for?

Thanks Simon, you're a mate - I've posted my question on there. I just feel such a PRAT for letting my heart overcome my head when I bought this thing...Simon wrote:hogweed wrote: Ԛ—a laugh at me if you like Simon

Agh! DonÔš't do it Horrendously complicated. Every time you do something, lots of computers blink into life, motors whirr, lights dim, the windows move around, the car drives off down the road by itself. ItÔš's like something out of Dr Who, and I daren't breathe heavily in it in case I blow half a dozen computers and it self-destructs or something.A1BMW325iSport wrote:just wanna see what you bought lol

UmmԚ… on the good side (if I haven't got a trashed engine, and there IS a good side), the driving experience is awesomely better than my old 325. It steers like it's on tracks, the engine is almost silent even when accelerating viciously (apart from the pinking, and you canÔš't hear that inside, which is why I missed it!) apart from a deep, menacing whirr coming through the bulkhead, brakes are wicked, it's got air conԚ… and the consumption is about the same as the E30 325!
DonÔš't fancy putting tyres on it though.
PS who's the piece of tail on your avatar or whatever they're called?

i had a e36 m3 3.0,
and it must have a decent grade fuel in it.
i think there should be a sticker on the fuel gauge telling you to put
97 ron fuel in it.
i would run it low on fuel then fill up with shell optimax, and try that.
