And though it's a bit of a boremobile, I can't wait. It's a 1983 chromie 320i Auto with 60k odd miles in (allegedly) excellent nick. Well with that mileage it can't be too bad. I might have to do a bit of work on it but it will be my new daily driver since I have sold both 525iX's and my E28 and have the 635CSi up for sale. I think I have also bought a Kamtail Alfa Spider.....will know for sure on friday. :D

I had one of these. A 1986 chromie 2 door.

I loved it. It was one of the smoothest and most comfortable cars I've ever driven. If you rev the pants off them they sound lovely and go quite well. The handling ought to be wonderful with only 60k, assuming bushes are OK. There's nothing like an e30 with good low-mileage suspension.

27mpg though, and watch out for kickdown in wet corners...

Good luck!

Would you like a 16V turbo engine out of a Fiat Coupe to go in it? Comes with a free rusty coupe attached :)

I got an auto 320i this week as well - it's certainly relaxing :-)

I was reading the Everett E30 book and he repeatedly says not to have the engine idling in N or P, just have it in one of those positions for starting.

Hi bud....It's not too bad, just not as good as I expected. Luckily the interior is mint and the body (apart from the damage) is straight. I hope to use this as the Highline is up for sale. :(

LOL, Hey Rav...could you do me a favour and see if you can find out anything about that ETA head? I ain't heard nothing from him, maybe I should just re-advertise that I need one for my 525E.

Anyway, this e30 is kind of like my way of slipping gracefully into OAPdom. :D

So after much filling and sanding, painting and polishing, turns out the colour match is crap. :-x What should be Sapphire blue is more like sterling silver. Remix the paint and do it all again tomorrow. The left rear quarter panel, right rear arch and right rear B post lower panel all had dents. I managed to tap most of them out and got away with a minimal amout of filler.
Luckily I have spare discs as these are shot, but that and the front numberplate are all it failed the MOT on this morning.
Plod on tomorrow.

LOL....well ...I have spent the whole day on it with the trim panels off so I can push dents back out, trying to get a good line on the left rear quarter panel etc. It is a good car, even more so underneath. But still a fair old bit of work, only made annoying by having my supplier mix the colour so badly.

Houndstooth/county was sept '85-sept '87.

This trim the the early 6 cylinder type trim but i dont know the name for it. Its a check patern.

It looks like 0151 pacific blue type of trim, I have this chequered pattern in mine albeit being a sports interior with matching door cards. It's pretty rare stuff and an aquired taste, personally i like it.

Those pics take me back! I once had an '83 sapphire blue/blue interior 323i. It was a really early 'y' reg with the 3 speed auto. Went like sh1t off a stick though. Would kick down into first at about 40 and scream!!! I think it has met its make now though (it was FLC 410Y).
