and then Fozzy saidlol not if its an mr2 mate! they shite! had one. never again! My cars a sub 6 sec to 60 now, even with the blow at the manifold, you can have that for Ԛ£4999.99 if you like

If not then it looks like im gunna have to do the worse possable thing and bite the bullet, sell me car and get a scooby/cossie! ( bad memories of engines blowing up for fun) or even join the millions of other people and get into debt for a new type-r
!!!!!!!

318iS became MR2 Turbo became FTO GPX Mivec became Impreza became Rover 620Ti became Honda S2000 (current) became Fiesta 1.25 and 200SX Drift Slag (when the Honda has gone)

MR2! Please man, this is a e30 zone, only Russ has big enough balls to still post and own one of those. (still love you tho Russ!lol not if its an mr2 mate! they shite! had one. never again!
I'm running a 325i Turbo @ 0.3bar so far, 230-250bhp ish and some serious toys to allow 300 one day.
Good luck with the project, fast e30's are seriously fun, as Mr porsche boxter found out the other night

i think 250 from an m20b25 is possible and keeping it fairly road friendly, i guess people forget when hartge built and raced 325's it wasnt with the technology we have nowadays....but really whats the point. 250bhp isnt that much. definately not worth Ԛ£5k from a 2.5litre engine.
id either go for an s50 lump or an m52 go with a few bolt on mods and be relatively close to 250bhp.
people spend far too much on m20's when there is much better engines out there.
there aint no replacement for displacement...

forget BMW power
- yeah you and whose army
stick a jap turbo 6-pot engine in there.
I'm at the planning stage of putting a 7M engine from a 3ltr Turbo Supra in my/an E30. Scabby Supras can be had for a few hundred quid on Ebay. Engine and box out, give the engine a bit of an overhaul/ headgasket etc. 230 bhp out of the box and the sky really is the limit in terms of bolt on horsepower. OK so maybe not with this particular engine, but the turbo lump out of the MK4 Supra, some yanks are managing to run 1000 bhp on standard internal components.

Mad John McMad from Madcastle, near Mad County.

I agree with that - 100 BHP per litre is not outwith the realms of possibility but you will have to pay the earth for it - the law of diminishing returns and all that. I'm not sure that it would be particularly road friendly though.i think 250 from an m20b25 is possible and keeping it fairly road friendly, i guess people forget when hartge built and raced 325's it wasnt with the technology we have nowadays....but really whats the point. 250bhp isnt that much. definately not worth Ԛ£5k from a 2.5litre engine.
And what would you end up with after 10,000 miles of 7,000+ rpm hysterics - Oh, a 2K rebuild
and could you really put up with a powerband like an RD 250's
Fritz's is a mecca for all things BMW - you could spend days there and still not discover all the goodies that he has stashed away - he just has his own opinions on what he likes (mainly E21's i gathered).
Personally I would go for a transplant if you want that much power (see above for the various options).
But thats my opinion.
Ive posted this in another topic as well, but these guys here in Australia do some very powerfull and stable turbo conversions for M10, M20 and M30 engines.
This 323i Baur Cab puts out 410+ BHP from a turbo M20 http://www.bavariacars.com.au/article/?id=41
Not to mention its bloody beautiful to look at.
Then there is this beast M30 turbo E30 coupe that looks completely stock, but packs over 460 BHP, with mild-moderate boost settings. http://www.bavariacars.com.au/article/?id=62
Then we have a 13 second 1/4 mile turbo 323i hardtop http://www.bavariacars.com.au/article/?id=51
Then another 13 second turbo M20, with around 380BHP http://www.bavariacars.com.au/article/?id=43
Then a nice supercharged M20 2.6L Hartge putting out 380BHP, with a much better power curve than the turbos, and much more torque. http://www.bavariacars.com.au/article/?id=48
And finally a nice 325e turbo, once again cracking 360BHP http://www.bavariacars.com.au/article/?id=46
They cost money, but these turbo and supercharged M20 builds are nowhere near as expensive as most people expect.

I must say I couldnt pass up one of those M30 turbos either. The machine they have putting out 470 odd horsepower is not even remotely stressed as it is.
Having one of those in a sleeper E30 would be so much fun around the street. Have one of those single pipe super quiet exhausts, and make sure your turbo setup is silenced, then wack a little 316 badge on the back.
Scoobies would try, and fail, Eclipses, Focuses, Supras, would try and fail. Being able to laugh at a poor guy that has 20K under the hood of his japanese tuner and telling him that his heap couldnt beat a 20 year old BMW would be funny as. 'Speshly if his mates and gf were riding with him ;)

250 out of a 325i - nope.
What do you mean about technology moving on? Their full race engines were useless for the road and would barely idle. You can chuck as much fuel as you like into it but the ports and more importantly the valves are just not big enough. that's why they went for the 16 valve motor in the M3. Those 240bhp Hartge racers were also using a six butterfly injection set up - the road going version (H27SP) did a 'reputed' 220 bhp which means about 210 after you've got past the German Tuner Bullshit Factor.
But the fact is this - a 325i with the mods mentioned wouldn't even get a sniff of 250 bhp. 190 maybe.
The 3.5 Turbos should be okay for a good 350 bhp but 470 wouldn't be that reliable. The BiTurbo does 380 bhp and they were okay-ish but the 3.5 does have a steel crank as standard. If you can get a reliable 300 bhp from a 2 litre Cosworth YB, 400 plus from an M30 is very possible. I wouldn't give the gearbox and diff long to live though
and it would be horrible to drive.

Fritz reckon their super duper manifold which is simply a bad copy of a magnex gives 20 bhp.....give him a call and ask him, he will tell you this.
250 bhp from that little list of his.......HA! OK Mr Fritz.
PLayer 6's car shoudl make this power just about and thats has a fair bit of work done to it.
Getting anything over 210 bhp from an M20 is seriosly hard work.
I had to add a BTB manifold, 284 Cam and Stand Alone management to a C2 2.7 to give 215-220bhp!
250 bhp........yeah ok Fritz, just like your manifold will make my 325i give 200 bhp.....I hate is when people bullsh&t like that!

Fritz's has been had over by the EA (and possibly barrats as well) - they have to find a new home - when i went down there the impression i got was new home = closing down. This slagging won't help mattersWhat do you mean well done ???? we are not claiming 250bhp from a 2.5!
Their claims may well be boll*cks but they are passionate about what they do - in my book that's ok

So what are you trying to say? I know Richard very well and he's never quoted 250 bhp to me so someone is clearly doing them no favours at all. This is like the Bexley 240 bhp 2.7 with a standard cam - they told him one thing, the customer says something else. Bullshit baffles brains as they say. I personally will not believe any claim of bhp until I see it for myself on a calibrated dyno.
I would strongly disagree with Sal about their manifolds. They really are very lovely and so are the exhausts they do. A bit pricey yes but most good things are. I knew about them getting f8cked over by the environmental agency for 'breaking cars' and the whole thing was a load of sh*t. What they were doing was having a load of scrap BMW's in a pidgeon shit infested building, selling a few bits and then scrapping the shells. As far as I could tell no oil was being emptied into drains and the whole operation was causing nobody anywhere any harm at all - but it's just typical of this country that some w8nker will try and shut down a viable business over some ridiculous EU law. They've had to throw away so much stuff it's unreal. Very sad.
I don't agree with everything Richard says - or he with me - but he's handy to have around for the bits you might be f*cked without!
