Dear all touring owners, i know that for some strange reason that the tourings central locking has some kind of flaw, apparently they have very temprimental locking, when sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. i was wondering if anybody could tell me exactly what it is that causes it and is it cheap to fix? thanks fella's

AFAIK the touring has exactly the same central locking arrangements as a four door saloon.
E30 central locking systems suffer from two problems.
One is water getting into the ECU because of a problem with the sunroof drains or blocking of the cill drains, coupled with the rather strange location that BMW decided on for the ECU.
The other is problems with the fronr door hinge pillar plugs and sockets, usually the two red/black 12V feed wires in the driver's door plug.

If it's the water in the ECU, you have to do something about the water of course, and the ECU's probably toast.
The door plug/socket I've posted about several times. Basically the 12V supply to the ECU goes into the driver's door and out again for no good reason that I know of. Cure is to find both red/black wires going to the socket in the door pillar, cut them both awat, and join them together.
Pin that usually gives the trouble is one at the bottom, sort of away from all the rest.
