I thought Laches was the rare one. They're all coming out now!

Laches

Vigilantibus non dormientibus æquitas subvenit.

equity aids the vigilant, not those who sleep.

?

i take it it's to do with the colour and not a legal defence.

I reckon in years to come, the Tech 1 Sport will be the Mark 1 Mexico of E30's. Rare as buggery because nobody bothered saving them and most had lash up patch up restos. Tech 2's will be just as rotten if not more so. Lots are pretty grim as it is.
I'd say there are maybe less than 10 really, really good Tech 1 Sports left now - really good as in genuinely rust free and/or properly restored. The Tech 1 just looks sharper and it has something about it the later one doesn't have.

I just dont get why tech1's are thought of less than a tech2.

I agree that the tech1 is sharper. IMO its much better looking car.

Shame they are all rotten or bodged up scrapping though mot one last time

i beg to differ they are faster owing to significantly superior high compression engine are lighter and therefore faster and better to drive and have the superior bilstein shocks. Looks are subjective but i think the early car has the edge as it detracts less from the basic lines of the e30 and the rear spoiler is far preferable to the later one which looks ugly from some angles. And yes I have owned good examples of both.
Thats not quite right both the high and low compression engines had the same power and roughly the same torque so if it is faster it wont be buy very much due to the restrictive early management.
25 year old bilstein shocks just dont cut it no more will they as in they have been on the car since new if it still has them on it!

You may of owned both but it does not mean you know anything about the cars my mom could of owed both but she wouldn't be able to tell the difference
I have pulled pnd up on this "far superior" yarn before several times!

The shockes dont even come into it as all orignal ones are 20+ years old or have been replaced by now.

There is virtually nothing in the high/low comp thing (an yes ive had numerous examples of both!)

As pnd says looks are subjective and i personally like both equally.

Oh and tech 1's have a 3.64 diff vs the tech 2's 3.91.

3.91= quicker acceleration!
