Hood help needed
Moderator: martauto
Can anyone help suggesting a good hood fitter in Norwich or Norfolk? I want to order one of these:
http://www.car-hood.co.uk/content.php?n ... 22&pID=110
But I have no time to fit it. There are two locals I know of who could fit it - one will charge £200 and I have no idea of the quality of his work. The other is used by BMW dealers and will charge a whopping £450+.
I know this is a niche market and I suspect only cabby freaks will be able to help - but please do help! TIA

Fitting is a tedious job, but can be done, Alex has done his iirc.
£200 is about right for the work involved.
I would be asking for references from either of the 2 workshops so you can see their work.

I had a quote from http://www.hothoods.co.uk/
£475 Black fitted, £500 Blue fitted & an extra £25 if they come to me in Luton to fit it.

Cheers Alan - I did look at hothoods originally but was a little concerned with their 'cash only' approach and wasn't too sure what the quality of the hood would be like. BAS has been recommended to me by several people - but I just don't have time to fit it hence the need for a good roofer!

From what little I can discover,a pro will expect to take half a day to fit an E30 hood,so £200 sounds about right to me,£450 sounds like they do not want the work!
Blitz,I think, posted up the original BMW video's demonstrating exactly what is involved, may well be worth a search to have a look.
Do make sure your tension straps are functioning correctly before commiting to a new hood,it's too late afterwards....

um mmm. I think my tension straps are probably fooked. I take it they're meant to have some tension to push the hood back into the frame when folding it down? You have to push mine manually. Where's the best place to source a couple?

Excellent quality. I'd recommend them, only problem was they didn't work at the weekends!

Have just had the new hood fitted by Car Hood Warehouse and must say they have done an excellent job. Fitter knew what he was doing and only took 3 hours. Quality is really good.
I managed to get the £50 call out fee waived as another E30 zone member had his done at the same time.
Just shows that trimmers quoting £320 for fitting only really are having a laugh.
Will be at Santa Pod if anyone wants to see quality
