Don't use auto fluid mate, use gear oil like EP90 or something

put in a additive, thicker oil should stop the tapping.

i`v been running slick50 which i think is really good stuff never let me down before but for some reason it has this time.
got any idea which one i should use.put in a additive, thicker oil should stop the tapping.

so to my existing oil in the car now would you say add some diesel fuel to it now as its only 4 weeks old oil if so what volume would you say add.

the oil that came out of your engine was like treacle mate! the oil filter itself was just a big sticky lump of grease
i bet the oil in there now is black by now! i would drop the oil and stick some cheap diesel engine oil in there until that goes black, then swap back to a quality petrol oil. bring some oil over one day in the week if you like and i will do it for you!

Just as another pointer if the oil change doesn't work,
I had the same kind of noise on mine, tried all as said but it didn't work - it turned out that the threads on the studs that hold the cam carriers down were "pulling out", the only thing that cured it was to heli-coil them all,
Hope it's not that but, as I said, worth checking if the oil change fails,

well guys i`v just got back from BBB`s me and penton08 been on it most of the morning and its no better than when we started, so i`v just sourced another engine so he we go again going to change it.

325ise no vanos just drive it home and it pulls really nice got a lot of history with it
original m3 evo front bumper, m3 rear lights alot stuff on it i can sell to make my money back.

Just been round to drop of some parts to the guys who are doing my swap for me to see what they had done to find the engine stripped down, they are going to clean it up and spray it for me which i didnt know they where going to do.

Most of it did come up but there's still stains there.
Engine is now in and up and running, so i took it for an mot and it failed
..........
on no spaces on my number plates and all red rear lights how happy was i.
